Coloow Posted January 29, 2009 Xiin, while every effort to bring a lasting peace is welcome- and the so called Puntland attendance is a step in the right direction (not that it matters), we should not neglect the reality on the ground; the southern part of Somalia is in the hands of groups who are not part of the Djibouti process. Sheikh Shariif power base is confined to the northern outskirts of Xamar. The rest of the country is in the hands of groups opposed to the process. In addition, what is worrying is that the Djibouti process appears to be no different than the Dppfareey one (the selection of MPs is based on the cancer of tribalism 4,5), the former warlords, religious entrepreneurs, new warlords in the making etc are the ones attending. My prediction is that we are back to square one. As to Puntland attending or not attending it does not change anything. To use the words of our inhouse Goebells they are "irrelevant".
