Geedid,

I can’t believe you picked on single mothers as if they are a disgrace to humanity, as for the taxi drivers there are many whom hold Masters and PhD but had found it hard to find jobs these include many former students from Russian, China etc. Most Somali families now and then had been of single parent household. If your protest and beef was about this woman’s appointment then you should have addressed it as so rather then being prejudice and ignorant. I don’t know this woman or anything about her background but in reality one doest have to be a PhD holder or a successful CEO to be an ambassador. Being an ambassador is usually defined as diplomacy which is that, it is the oral aspect of international relation. There is an essential difference between what is written and what is spoken, not only because spoken words are essentially more ephemeral, but because the spoken language has infinitely more nuances, being both richer and more subtle than written texts. As for this woman, she already seems to have the knack for the job...Congrats to her and her connections [The envious me speaks here]

Big up for SINGLE MOTHERS! If she is one that is..

^^I agree, no need to insult her as a person.

I don’t care what the secessionists think, or what the looters, clan courts think. What matters is the interest of the
Somali people.

I am assume "secessionists" are not Somali?? well great, that is settled.

The poor, Somal's who for 16 long years have been denied the services, jobs and opportunites available to most of the worlds population.

From a personal experience, the SL people's terms; DO IT YOURSELF service operates very well. I'm sure the same principle will operate just as well in Xamar if you would stop shooting at innocent people long enough. They will make their own opportunities and jobs if you and your thugs would just let them live!

Opening a little rat hole in China and India is not going to make the life’s of people in the south any easier, it just means more money in the war lords pockets, and more holidays in the name of Somali.

^Rat hole? Do away with your last paragraph and you have a reasonable post. Resuscitating the key aspects of a state such as embassies is a good thing unless you have no desire for any state to exist there. The current crop of actors can be done away with and likely just may but re-establishing the institutions of a state has the potential to benefit all Somalis. And such a step should not have vitriol and insults poured upon it.

I think I am one of a few who know this woman and even though my choice of words were not particularly nice yet I think she is a terrific person but not qualified to become an ambassador. Her only qualification in this case was her tribal connection to the man.

And yes I stand up by my earleir assertion of cab driver dominated government.Aqoon meel kasta oo aad ka soo qaadatid wax uun bey ku tareysaa whether its from Timbaktu or Tanzania. That is real aqoon not mid aad been ka sheegtey which I am afraid was very common amongst people who were part of the old system.Marki dibadda leys la yimid waa la kala baxey ninkii aqoon lahaa meel fiican buu ka soo jeestey kii kalena security guard iyo cab driver buu noqdey.

Ladane has never been known a rich man in somalia. His brothers happen to be top government ministers and ammbassodors during Siyad Barre's era. I personally knew one of his brothers, who happen to be the owner of Theater Ladane in Magadishu. as for Ebyan, even though she does not have expereice in the doplmatic cyrcle, she is qualify to be an ambassodor.

What my man Gediid may not know is significant number of these sort of positions are filled not by merit but by patronage. It comes with the territory. After all the position (Ambassadorship) under the microscope falls under the political appointee catetgory.

Ebyan is Somali lady (pretty, tall, and imposing Qallanjo -- relative to figures beside her - smile.gif ) with impressive credentials. I'm sure there are many more qualified Somalis out there. But awoowe in politics if you are not a supporter of the ruling party (excuse the analogy) your chances in landing a political appointee position is almost null.

Here in the land of honey and milk being a fund-raiser and party faithful can earn you better position in government. I guess you already know that. You heard the news about this Bush admin. In the state dept almost half of the career people were let go and replaced Neocon upstarts.

Ebyan happen to share her 34th great great grandfather with the strong man in Benadir. That's a plus. She supports the man, campaigns for him, contributed her time in writing letters, talking to media -- all to make the case for the TFG. Now TFG enjoys a token legitimacy she is reapping the benefit of her hard work.

I suggest you to use your acquintence with her as a tool to make things happen for you. You never know you might start with $100 grand salary, a mansion in India, paid travel expenses -- all from the foreign handout gifts.

See awoowe this is the beauty of negative tribalism. This is why our clan has to win and win big. In the absence of justice and system with balances and checks you gotta have a strong man in high places or flee to the West and perhaps become a cab driver till ur folks attain the golden cup.

What you dont know is most Somali ambassadors appointed now will must probably resort to shady deals just to make ends meet and most will run back to the comfort of their homes in Amerika or Canada eventually.Just to name a few examples I remember after the collapse of the Somali government in the early 90's I knew of a few Somali diplomats who just to survive were rumoured to have been drug dealers using their diplomatic immunity as cover.Others were said to use their duty free priviliges to buy products to resell in the market and a few of the Somali diplomats in India used their diplomatic cover to import gold into Bombay just to get by.I doubt if these will fare any better.

PS

As far as the 100k salary goes sidee ayaan kugu sheegaa 911 kadib shaqo 95k ah ayaan diidey, back then 74k only ayaan sameyn jirey.Till recently taas baa camal ee aheyd only to leave and do something better so you do the math........ ;)

Ninobrown LOL, that was good answer my boy, I guess he will never miss his qolo, Simple and clean :D

Wax kasta waa leyska oranaa.Rich kulahaa waar ninyahow ladane isnt and has never been known to have been a rich man.He is Mansha Allah still alive and kicking.

Waxkast adigaa iska oranaaya kawaran sxb, marki hore waxaad ku doodaysay that she was uneducated mother until LST cleared it out. You act as if you know better, Dabshid is right she was born to one of the richest families in Somalia, they were wealthy successful family, althougth Ebyan's father Ladane was more into politics than money and business most of the family wealth were controlled and run by the brother Abdulahi Salah Deer. The father of the new Somali Ambasador to India had played major roles in the Somali politics since 1940's being a member of the SYL and one of the early long standing Somali MP's elected from the constituency of Buulo Barde, Hiiraan. For that Ebyan isn't new to politics as sh was being brough up in a house where at times some of Somalia's greatest men met and discussed issues of great importance.

I know her father Ladane Saalah Deer and had the opportunity to meet him few years back in Cairo, he was sharp although very old, a good man mostly talked about the good old days of our country, especially Hiiran which he loved so much...

There is another educated resourceful brother from this family, cousin of Ebyan and the son of that rich man Abdulahi Salah Deer who's called Said. He's articulate politically ambitious and had done for the poor people of Somalia what most of the country leaders and NGO's couldn't do... He was even rumoured to be appointed for Europe in Brussels before it was announced... I think some of the politically awere brothers of SOL living in London like Juje, Sophist and others may know him very well... Duke must know this guy...

Nwayz Congrats to new Ambasidor for India, she sure looks stunningly fabulous, and have right intellect, education and background for the job... so who says No?

Gediid??????? Give us a break... :D
