BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed arrived here on Thursday for the Beijing Summit of the Forumon China-Africa Cooperation.

 

Forty eight African countries that have diplomatic relations with China are to participate in the two-day summit scheduled for Nov. 4-5.

 

China and Somalia established diplomatic relations on Dec. 14, 1960. Bilateral trade reached 19.64 million U.S. dollars in 2005.

Talks on the sidelines of the summit among east African leaders are likely to be heavily dominated by the crisis in Somalia, where the transitional government is facing the threat of further attacks by the Union of Islamic Courts. Business Day
