Haddad Posted July 21, 2005 Good analysis. While the US is bogged down in Iraq & Afghanistan, other giants are leisurely emerging on the horizon. It's not a closed secret the US would get replaced as an economic/military giant in a span of few decades. The US' ambitions in Iraq & Afghanistan have gone awry. Its plans of oil prices reaching $6/barrel have been proven to be illusion. The US alienated secular leaders/governments of the Middle East as a result of invading Iraq. It's not a secret those leaders/governments are supporting the Iraq insurgency in various formats (financially, logistically, armamentary, etc). As a result, a long protracted struggle has to be expected. There's also bin Laden's promises to bleed the US' economy. No wonder a good chuck of the US' budget is dedicated for the military, security, counter terrorism, and other gun related sectors. I don't think this would lead to WW3, because it would result in mutual annihilation. Instead, confrontations would happen in the form of supporting an armed opposition of the foe, in order to force a slowing.
