Goodir Posted March 24, 2009 I know of only two democratically-elect ed presidents and one military coup. Sheikh Sharif Ahmed is said to be the ninth president of the country. According to what I am reading, since the military regime was ousted in 1991, the country has gone through six president in just short 18 years. Of the six, none were elected by Somalis or in general election in Somalia and none were able to put an end to the civil war. Cabdiqasim of Carta Jabuuti. Cabdulaahi of Nairobi and Shariif of Jabuuti. Who are the other three? Any lessons learned about their failure? Their weakness in politics or clan affiliation played a role in the demise of their presidency? How many more presidents would it take to see the country some order and stability?
