Somaliland's immgration offices and communications networks to be upgraded

 

 

 

Berbera(QARAN)-The Head of Somaliland Immigration Office, Mohamed Osman Alin stated that all the offices of the Somaliland immigration and travel department are to undergo an extensive upgrade in terms of their equipment and facilities.

 

Whilst on a visit to the port of Berbera, the head of the immigration office, Mohamed Osman Alin gave a press conference to give a more detailed information of the new installation of computers and a new telecommunications network to link all the immigration and travel offices across all of Somaliland's six provinces.

 

"It is our intention to undertake an extensive refurbishment of all our immigration and travel officers across Somaliland and with the assistance of IOM from the United Kingdom, we intended to introduce new equipment and upgrade our current facilities", said the head of the immigration office, Mohamed Osman Alin.

 

"We also hope to link via a computerized network all our offices in Somaliland" continued the head of Somaliland's immigration office.

 

Mr. Julian Circo, a senior co-ordinator of IOM who accompanied the Somaliland immigration officers on their inspection of the port of Berbera said "we will continue to assist the Somaliland immigration department, with both materiel and expertise, thanks mainly to annual funding of $500,000 from the government of the United States"
