Abu-Salman Posted March 5, 2009 What basis are they using for selecting people? First, I was told this: Thank you for your interest to attend the meeting this Friday (6 March) with President Rayale of Somaliland. Spaces for this meeting are limited, can you therefore email us your affiliation? Kind regards Tighisti Amare Africa Programme Administrator Then, this reply: Somaliland's role in the stability of the Horn of Africa. Speaker: President Dahir Rayale Kahin of Somaliland Chair: Sir Kieran Prendergast Date: Friday 6 March 15:00-16:00 Thank you for registering for the meeting this Friday (6 March) with President Rayale of Somaliland. This email is to confirm your registration. The meeting will begin promptly at 15:00. Please bring this confirmation and some photo ID with you on the day. I look forward to seeing you at what promises to be a very interesting event. More seriously, here are two issues to which you are invited to add more: -Claims of "spectacular" democratisation concomitant with the persecution of dissidents, among others local particularities. -Corruption affecting even emergency food aid
Suldaanka Posted March 5, 2009 I heard the President received a warm welcome from Her Majesty's Government.
AfricaOwn Posted March 5, 2009 I just hope this dude handles the elctions well and just goes of the scene already. Somalilanders just have to put up with him for the time being.
Suldaanka Posted March 5, 2009 The people will speak insha allah. And the outcome will determine if he stays or not. But as Somalilanders we need to be open minded and be open to all possibilities. It is just not wise to assume that he will go away.

From what I see even on this forum, the majority of the people are so set against him, there is absolutely no way Riyaale can be reelected again, democratically. There is the possibility of him staying..which I am open to, but I personally want him out. The people just want a new man to trash for another 4 years I think. The people that automatically assume Kulimey= Major change in Somaliland are the biggest naives and the most annoying though.
Sir-Qalbi-Adeyg Posted March 5, 2009 Yes, I would like to him because the man is a legend who has conned many poor northwesterners. Imagine he gets payed more money than US presidents. He is in the same league as Gheedi, Cade muse etc. They are always in it for the money.
