Ismalura Posted August 23, 2010 This is how it is these days. If you want to be loved by the western media and so called writers and make some easy money. It is easy. Just say and do something to disgrace and insult your 'backward' culture prove the west right that the world need rescue from their civilization and than run back and say that the extremists after you ! what ever happened to self respect and pride? Ilaahow umada sharfteedii u soo celi. By the way I agree we need to solve our FGM, ceydh etc problems in our own way since it is true in eey jiraan. Malika Posted August 23, 2010 It is said that 'The Truth Hurts' ..it seems so in this case. I agree with whom ever said these issues of fraud need to be addressed by those in the know within our communities, why arent the sheikhs saying anything?..waxaan waa ceeb iyo xaraam, subhanallah! I cant understand the argument, kulaha others also cheat, steal, lie blah blah..bisinka! When was it ever right to call your children *******s, your husband a boyfriend, your mother a wife??? For money? sharafta Allah hanaga ridiin!

Ismalura Posted August 23, 2010 @ Malika it is not about truth hurting or not...yes FGM and depending on welfare is shame on us but there is something like not airing you dirty laundry. If the aim is to constructively improve the society there are better ways to do it than humiliating your self and culture in front of a culture that already despises it enough. For the record again we need to deal with FGM iyo ceydha laisku daldalayabo. Both have no place in Islam and a disgrace to us.

Chocolate and Honey Posted August 24, 2010 Alla maxaa danbi laga gurubsaday gabadha. What does it matter if she is not good looking or not? Why must all females be judged on looks first as if what they bring to the table is not enough? Akhas! The sexism. This lady is on point on both issues. Welfare fraud needs to stop and FGM needs to be eradicated. The welfare made Somali men lazy
Ismalura Posted August 24, 2010 C&H what Kadra is saying about FGM And the welfare is right lakiin this is no way to stop it. The right thing to do is educate our people on the problems. I also agree with Malika that the sheekhs need to talk about it otherwise aan nala cebeysanin Somali oo dhan ceydh ma cunto fgm na ma taageerto. We have enough demeaning culture talk going on about us with out our own self serving people humiliating us in front of the world.
Boom Boom Posted August 24, 2010 She's telling the truth. She just shouldn't have done it by naming and shaming. She could've talked to influential people to make some sort of grassroot effort to stop these demeaning practices. Other communities have a culture of caring about one's reputation by the type of job they have and where they live. Indo-yere people are well known to compete with one another on who has the better home and who's more educated than who. It just seems that most of our people have a ghetto mentality and don't have an amitious bone in their body. So unfortunate.
Juxa Posted August 24, 2010 she is telling the truth about the welfare system. somalis must stop thinking ceydha is xaqeena. it is not. each islaan claims xaqeyga baa la iidiiday ee iisoo dhici. couples come and say waa walaalkey even though it is clear he is her husband. this widespread been must be stopped

Hales Posted August 24, 2010 ^ That anology is more similar to that of someone excessively using drugs, that one is a personal issue; Anyways lightening creams is not limited to one culture, it is also generally understood to contain dangerous side effects, on the other hand this one is about abusing a system put in place by the government. If the stories about Mothers intentionally filing for divorce to take advantage of such a system and purposely follow such a path is true, then i must admit that she has the right to expose it such a way that will alert and inform the government and alike about these ill tendencies taking place, even if may be painfull. The far right/anti immigrant band receiving ammunition is unfortunately a consequence of bad behaviour, the idea is for communities to refrain from taking such unsuitable discourses from the system in the first place. Land_Soldier Posted August 24, 2010 Respect of someone's privacy is universal. You shouldnt tape video's of people in secret and then disgrace them in public western media. That is just wrong.

Chocolate and Honey Posted August 25, 2010 You agree that she is a HO? War Ilaahay ka cabsada. Uff! Why is she a HO? Just because she exposed two sick practices or because welfare ay idinku ciriirisay?
General Duke Posted August 25, 2010 People calm down, both welfare fraud and child abuse [FGM] are wrong and should be addressed. The ladies looks have nothing to do with what she stands for. These are important issues that we need to discuss like grown ups.
