^^ Why is it that in those six years nobody other than you has noticed or commented on this dubious fact?

At any rate, I believe Silaanyo to be too old for the job of Somaliland president. The rest of the thread is not worth commenting on.

Nayruus,

We're not sure if it is fact or fiction though. Other than your argument here I don't think anyone else has discussed this issue before. It's just too farfetched in our Waxa la yedhi obsessed society. Then again, I suppose you just started the ball rolling...

C$N, you know the implication. How come the leader of the main opposition party does not bother to visit his constituent for more than six years? When you are attempting to comment on this question, wouldn’t it be fair if you adopt the mental status of the SNM gangs that claim that they live in a democracy which the “hired pen” described as the best kept “democracy in Africa”? I mean put yourself in their shoes. Tell me in the history of a democracy where an opposition leader has chosen not to bother to visit outside the country let along his hometown for that long… Compare that with waraabe waaraabe’s travel routes for comparatively similar time..

This is not "waxa la yiri". This is the truth..the man is under house and office arrest. He can not even visit Berbara.

Our reputable magazine need at least two independent sources before we put this tidbit in print. Nayruus can you help giving us direction so we can confirm the validity of this claim. This new breaking news will appear on our Magazine.

If it is true and I doubt it is, it signifies the fact that unionist are silenced and their views equated with treason and other high crimes whereas secessionism are enforced, celebrated, and imposed on the folks by few at the top.

Him not visiting Burco for 100 years does not mean he is under house arrest.

He was chilling in the UK last year:

and that took me exactly 5 seconds to google.

A source close to him who described himself as one of the confidants that he has in Hargeisa contacted me in support of my observation that Mr. Siilaayo is under a city arrest. Letting him to travel outside Hargeisa at the beginning of the last year to London for what had been called “an invitation from the House of Commons”, for the first time in more than seven years is the exception, not the rule. It was the only time he himself relapsed to the secession addiction since he lost the leadership of the gang to the SNS agent, Mr. Riyaale.

What happened is that the gangs’ representatives in London misread the intention of a “hand wave” extended from a couple of British PMs. They thought they had an opportunity to talk to the British government. The reps figured out that Siilaayo not the Riyaale was the right person to be brought to London to present the secession agenda. The preference was based on the fact that Silaanyo has some competence in English language since he took his Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Manchester, England. Since he held various ministerial positions in The Somali Republic and naturally, in carrying out his duties under Siyad Bare’s military regime, had interacted with officials from numerous nation-states in the country and in the international arena, he must have debating skills that Riyaales, high school graduate schooled in Boorama, lacks, they reasoned.

When Siilaanyo was informed of the opportunity, he rationalized himself into believing it was a golden opportunity to get access to the Tony Blair’s government. During the visit, he was closely guarded and never had been given chance to get out of the sight of the escorting team. He came back to Hargeisa because he thought they had made some progress in establishing a link to the 10 Downing Street. Or so, they convinced themselves.

The source is stressing that my observation is correct because I have asked the right question, which is, why on earth Mr. Siilaayo never visited his constituency and tribal base (Burao) for at least more than five years. Why Riyaale and Waraabe have collected enough airmiles for the rest of their traveling lives while Siilaanyo’s traveling tires are ruptured in Hargeisa’s riverbed?

When I asked my source why the gang can not trust him? He said THE REAL LEADER of the gang the so called vice president Ahmed Yuusuf Yasin was furious at his Siilaayo’s initiation of a public discourse on what was called “The Possible Effects the Nairobi Reconciliation Conference”, (PENRC) on the affairs of the northwestern regions (NWR). At first Yasin and the other members of the gang restrained themselves to not shut down the PENRC debate but only showed apprehension and concern. But all of a sudden, like chicken separated from their heads, they started chasing their tail in a downward spiral of confusion and panic because soon the commotions that were felt in tea-shops and qat-chewing circles turned the debate to heated argument between a new class of open federalists and the die-hard secessionists. Several organized debating sessions were held in public arenas, on TV and published in the Dailies especial in Jamhuuriya, which leads the largest readership in the region. Jamhuuriya carried public opinions and articles on the benefits of federalism on the lap of Somaliweyn (Somali nationalism). Furthermore, Jamhuuriya took bold steps and sent the chief editor Hassan Said Yusuf to Nairobi to meet the delegates from NWR in the peace process.

The gang wake up one day and put a stop to the all public discourse on Siilaay’s PENRC. What set off the latent fear and suspicion of the gang was the fact that the direction of the debate was moving into Somaliweyn reality. Questions were raised on the merit of the secessionists’ declared independence. The first time since 1991, people in an honest and open manner began to engage self-inspection dialogue on how impossible it is to isolate themselves from the other Somalis in a regime that has no chance to gain sovereignty status amongst international community. The recognition seeking tactics were snubbed and ridiculed at. Signs of open opposition to the gang’s authority began to emerge as the Adnagate floated up. The gang was hit hard by the remark of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the financial powerhouse of Muslim and Arab nations.

To be continued....
