Jacaylbaro Posted February 6, 2009 UDUB party members from Sool and Sanaag regions of Somaliland have rejoined the party convention in Hargeisa today after they boycotted the first few days of the convention in protest. The senior members were not present when President Dahir Riyale and Vice President Ahmed Yasin were re-elected as the party’s nomination for the coming up Somaliland elections in March. The break-away members were led by former Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Mr Ali Ahmed (“Ali Antar”). Mr Ahmed held a press conference at Crown hotel in Hargeisa where he and the delegates pledged their support for the ruling UDUB party. Mr Ahmed restated that the delegates boycotted the convention because of the path the convention was taken and how the convention was being managed. Mr Ahmed reiterated that it was never their intention to disintegrate UDUB party but that they had a concern that need to be addressed. Mr Ahmed said they decided to rejoin the party after their concerns had been addressed within the party. The Sool and Sanaag delegates pledged to now support the outcome of the UDUB party convention and stand by the party platform.
