Sky Posted October 19, 2005 Sharjah Emirate that has promised Puntland to fully engage in developing the infrastructure of Puntland (what triggered Sharjah to this was the old history it had with Bosasso), has contracted the Bin Laden Group of Companies to build the runway, parking-taxi apron, taxiway etc. in the Bosasso airport, while Puntland (admin & businessworld) have spent $6.000.000 mln for the construction of the terminal, tower etc. This is the first time the famous Bin Laden Group has a construction project in Somalia. They are expected to do similar projects in Puntland in the future. It has been 15 years and Somalia is witnessing grand-scale projects of the 70s and 80s again. Noteworthy is that the Louis Berger Group, contracted by the EU, will construct the highway between Berbera and Ethiopia to improve the trade between Ethiopia and Somaliland after EU assessment.
