Puntland Oil Debate

Recommended Posts

Thankful

Kajdes, never mind what some from other regions might say (most complaining are from abroad and have no clue whats going on in Somalia). The Oil from what i'm hearing should begin in August, Nugaal has always been the most promising area even back during the dictator Siad Barre's reigh. There is full support amoung those in that area. Of course there are some from abroad who dont want to see it happen. Regardless, August is the month things should start rolling.

You Aussies haven't still given up that idea of drilling oil and natural gas from Northern Soomaaliya by corrupting a few officials, did you?

thanks for your reply, you make me laugh! well well well, 3 oil holes in the ground? not sure what art or co-workers you refer to, I know of none and my interest is my own.

at the end of the day if it wasn't for an enterprising few that were prepared to take a risk nothing would happen. its quid pro quo - no such thing as a free lunch - international help for ever? I dont think so.

Somalipride thanks for your thoughts - I believe this would be a very exciting time for Puntland and Somalia - I have picked up a resistance to the project by various online news groups - some who can only see the small picture of money in their own hands

Somalis have been fighting over wells for centuries. Now they discovered there are different kins of wells( with black gold!). So you can understand the sudden rush by our warlords a.k.a AFrican chiefs sticks, who are auctioning the entire country: from sea, to air, to coast, to land, to trees and know they are selling the people for money! It's all part of the democracy I suppose?

This is progress, Puntland a Somali state needs injection of cash to pay salaries, create jobs and build infrsutructure.

Why beg when we have resources.

Also UAE, QATAR, SAUDI ARABIA, LIBYA all had tribal chiefs who killed each other, did that stop them using their resources and getting rich?

Getting rich and then building hospitals, roads and schools are is one thing. Lakin government officials involved in piracy, human smuggling, tribalism, money laundering( to name a but a few crimes) is something completely different. I might sound like a cynic, but my freind, the current Admin of PL is running that stretch of land somewhat downhill! It doesn't take a genius to work that out! And you trust them with the resources of the land?

Adeer you have no proof other than clan based allegations and hate towards the peacefull progressive state.

Is Cade Muse worse than Shiekh Zayed, or Qadafi or anyother leader of Oil based nation? NO.

Thus all this negetive talk is just clan based and not based on the interest of the people.

Ah, do you always retreat into the "clan based----ooh you hate us...." mantra , when you have no argument to make?

Did you just compare Mr White of PL to Sheikh Zaid?

Its the truth adeer, Puntland's detractors are based on clan, masked as nationalisam, or even religious argument. Forgetting this is a Somali state and all its people happen to be Muslim.

As for Sheikh Zayed, was he not a tribal chief who wiped out his own family to attain power?

Cade is an elected official who has waged no war.

Don't you think it's rather paranoid to explain all criticisms of the PL admin as driven by tribalism? Is that the best defence you can make of the current adminstrations record?

Its a fact adeer, Puntland and its people a decade ago created an admin, its been successfull, is it perfect? No, however detractors like yourslf do not understand what Puntland is and what its aims are. Yet you are quick to make snide comments.

Adeer this Oil deal is good for Somalia. Because Puntland is just a state within the Somali republic.

This discussion isn't about what Puntland people did a decade ago or its clans(which happens to be your favourite subject). I don't trust or believe( for a second) that the curent PL admin can be trusted to bring benefits due to their gross incompetence! The way that have handled this OIL affair from the beginning and their terribel record on the other matters I mentioned testifies to this.

Now, do you have any evidence to offer that suggests otherwise, other than the emotional mantra of:

" puntland and it's people are so great, the detractors hate us, my clan bla bla bla"?

I don't particularly care about clans, we're discussing the record of a political adminstration, right? Hadi kale, just stick to posting nice "pics" and maybe then you'll have a btter chance of convincing us that PL admin is comparable to Sheikh Zayid!

Duke....What are the terms of the agreement?

How would the profit be split assuming they found oil in Puntland. And would Puntland share the profits with the rest of Somalia since kheyraadka dhulka belongs to all Somalis.
