General Duke Posted March 20, 2008 Che: Indeed you are right this oil wealth belongs to all Somali's. Thus the locals will get jobs, new business opportunities and the reveneue will be shared by Puntland (all five regions) as well as the Federal government in Moagdishu. A third will go to Mogadishu. Abu-Geel. Your point is not valid, the Puntland admin wit thir lack of money, man power have charted a hopefull course, they got this deal, its good for us and will bring in vital foreign investment Hydro Carbon exploartion is long term goal, it will be a few years before any tangible results have been gained, and when the real money flows it will be beyond this admin and the next. Should the Somali's continue to starve, daying to get to Dubai, while they have the wealth to match Dubai and any desert state?
Thankful Posted March 20, 2008 First off, everything has to do with tribe, Somalis hate to hear it. Look at this site, they post every little negative thing they can find about Puntland and every positive of there's. They only have love for their side!! Che, That is what i've been trying to get at, this is about exploration. They want to see what we have, every Somali has heard at one time or another that we have oil and a lot of potential. All this admin is doing is exploring to see if this is a fact or a myth. How will proceeds be split and to whom is not what they are looking for right now. The other lie that Puntland Government officals are behind the kidnappings and piracy are just baloney! This government knows that the only way to get this oil thing successful is with a stable state, why risk the potential oil brings with kidnappings? Koora-Tuunshe Posted March 20, 2008 somalipride, The Adde-Administration (unfair to blame all Puntland) has been incompetent and corrupt. After his replacement, perhaps, reer Bari (meaning all of the regions of Puntland) would come to terms with their differences and have serious public debate on this resource exploration and extraction and its fair distribution. Che -Guevara Posted March 20, 2008 Somalipride....That makes more sense. It is just that and correct me if I'm wrong, nobody ever made public what does oil deals entail. About piracy, and money counterfeiting, I believe Pland leaders is well aware who's involved.
Thankful Posted March 20, 2008 koora-tuushe - if you believe the admin is poor and there is someone better out there, they should run the same people that are complaining now were doing the same thing when Abdullahi Yusuf was president. And right now there is no one out there, people know the toll the defense of Puntland has taken on the economy. Second, lets be honest, reer maakhir and President Cade have a history together, way back when he first came to Puntland and had to retreat from Duudo where he was fighting Abdullahi Yusuf enormous force. Regardless of who's right and wrong, it is evident that there issues. They never wanted him and he may still remember.
General Duke Posted March 20, 2008 Nice points Mr Pride. As for Pres Cade, he needs to work harder to convince as many people as he can. This oil deal is good for everyone..Lets stop begging.
