NASSIR Posted August 18, 2010 Originally posted by Thankful: Xudeedi, give it a rest. Asha specifically mentions the vice president but never mention the interior minister. If she cared so much about justice she would not be so selective in her criticisms. In most situations people would be even harsher to those they consider relatives and who are working for the other side. Someone like Ilka-Jiir you would think, would be the person you are must upset with since, in a sense he is a traitor. But noooooo, we will just insult the government but not members that come from E.Sanaag and W.Bari. If 25,000 people have been displaced as you alleged and other crimes are occuring, then why wouldn't she also call out ilka-Jiir? Is it because he is just following Faroole's orders? If that’s the case why call out Abdisamid the vice president? This article makes one thing clear, that regardless of the side someone is fighting on, E.Sanaag and W.Bari will not speak negatively of someone from their region. Whether it is Atam or Ilka-Jiir. Actually Puntland is confusing everyone on the situation in Galgala, by claiming they are fighting Al Shabaab. While they are actually fighting locals so they can exploit the natural resources. Cade Muuse tried this earlier but then they have lost from the locals under Atam leadership. And now Faroole is trying again to get the land, Its all about the $$$ as DUKE said. NASSIR Posted August 22, 2010 Land Soldier, they even called the honorable Asha Abdalla, a policitian known for her crusading champion for the rights of Somali women, a "terrorist" or "terrorist sympathizer". Puntland's cabal leadership can't be more deceptive and suspect.
Hales Posted August 22, 2010 How can this 'Atam' guy arms to war be justified even if it his to defend his 'indigineous territory' if the Puntland administration was set up in the region with the consent of his tribe ala the Maakhiris.
Thankful Posted August 22, 2010 When will E.Sanaag and W.Bari's Diaspora get in line with the people back home? No one is attacking the Puntland government led by Ilka-Jiir in this assault on Atam and his men. The man is on the run and within a day his base was taken over and the Puntland VP and Interior Minister was touring it. Where are the people of these areas? Why aren't they defending Atam or resources? Use your Diaspora resources to benefit your people and not to try and ignite them into a bloody conflict where you will be completely safe! No one in these area's support Atam, the fact he is retreating from Puntland's Army is clear proof!! The man made an audio tape and called a terrorist organizations his brothers and that we are them and they are us!....People turned their back on him after this, and hopefully your Diaspora will do the same. Xudeedi Posted September 30, 2010 The Galgala conflict comes amid claims by the Puntland government that they are fighting with “terrorists” and with counter claims by the locals that they are under siege by a government-led coalition of troops. The locals argue that the Al Shabaab charge against them is false and misleading, and it disguises the real cause of the conflict. As Mohamud Haji Ahmed explains in his article, “Galgala: Farole’s Waterloo”, the government’s allegation is a smoke screen for gaining a full control of the natural resources of the area. Before the Galgala conflict took on a national stage, Puntland had also antagonized another stakeholder. In this case, a segment of the *********** community who opposed the durability of Puntland’s policy of inaction towards their occupied territories formed the SSC's political and military committees. The president saved no time in coming out and labeling them “terrorists”. Hence Puntland’s definition of “terrorism” is not limited to the inhabitants of Galgala alone but it is an open-ended game, spreading its tentacles of malice and potential harm into other communities of the region. The familiar methods and tactics of internal defense by the state is that whoever dissents its narrowly conceived policies can qualify for this rhetoric followed by a media onslaught and diplomatic aggressiveness with complete disregard for human rights, accountability and ethical imperatives. Xudeedi Posted October 2, 2010 Undoubtedly, Puntland under Faroole has had its share of regional instability and more violence is expected to follow soon. The sighting of heavy military hardware destined for Sheikh Mohamed Said Atom's forces in the northern Galgala Mountains must be a source of concern for Faroole's poor state. Reports that the Sheikh's tribesmen are pouring into Galgala must not be taken lightly in any way and that's why the area is constantly becoming atomically charged day after day. Having incited international maritime piracy in his region and having abetted human trafficking across the Gulf of Aden, the administration in Puntland feels it has no other alternative left in the eyes of the international community other than opening a new political inferno.
