Do u Fear Death?

Recommended Posts

Death is a harsh and fearful reality, faced by everyone who lives. No one has the power to avoid it, nor does anyone around the dying person have the ability to prevent it. It is something that happens every moment and it is something encountered by the young and the old, the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak. They are all the same in that they have no plan, or any means of escaping it, no means of intercession, no way to prevent it or to delay it.

Allaah the Exalted says:

"Say: Indeed, the death from which you flee will surely meet you, then you will be sent back to Allaah, the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen. And He will then tell you what you used to do." [sooratul Jumu’ah 62:8]

"Every soul shall taste death. And we shall make a trial of you with evil and with good and to Us will you we returned." [sooratul Anbiyaa 21:34-35]

Indeed it is death: "which causes fear in the souls, and with it, ones actions are sealed, and what comes after it is even more fearful and fear-inducing. For is there a place which no one can flee to in order to escape from the constrictions suffered in the grave? Indeed, not a single one of us knows where he will end up. Will it be Paradise whose width is like the heavens and the earth, or will it be the Fire whose fuel is of men and stones?" [2]

Ibraaheem Ibn Adham (d.160H) - rahimahullaah - said, when he was asked about the verse:

"Call upon Me, and I will respond to you." [sooratul Ghaafir 40:60]

"They said: We call upon Allaah, but He does not answer us." So he said:

"You know Allaah; yet you do not obey Him. You recite the Qur`aan; yet you do not act according to it. You know Shaytaan; yet you continue agreeing with him. You claim to love the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam); yet you abandon his Sunnah (guidance and way). You claim to love Paradise; yet you do not work for it. You claim to fear the Fire; yet you do not stop sinning. You say: 'Indeed death it true'; yet you have not prepared for it. You busy yourself with the faults of others; yet you do not look at your own faults. You eat the sustenance that Allaah provides for you; yet you are not grateful to Him. And you bury your dead; yet you have not heeded its lesson." [3]

So this - O noble reader - is the reality which must be firmly established in one's heart; the reality that life in this world is limited and has an appointed end, and that this end will surely come…

"The righteous will die;

And the wicked will die.

The warriors who fight Jihaad will die;

And those who sit at home will die.

Those who busy themselves with correct beliefs will die;

And those who treat people as their slaves will die.

The brave who reject injustice will die;

And the vile who seek to cling to this vile life will die.

The people of lofty-goals and ambitions will die;

And the wretched people who live for cheap enjoyment will die." [4]

Shaykh 'Alee Hasan al-Halabee said:

"So keep in mind the point of death, and of one's passing on to the next life, and the number sins that one has committed and the small amount of good that one has done. Think of the good that you would earnestly like to do at that time - then bring that forward and do it today. And think of all those things which you would desire to clear yourself of - then clear yourself from them now."

Haneefah

I don't fear death per se, but my greatest fear on this earth is dying without being prepared to face Allah (swt). However, we all know that life was not granted to any of us forever, so we need to start preparing sooner than later . May Allah guide us all.

p.s welcome to the site...do enjoy your stay smile.gif

This is something truely to ponder

Do I fear death? Nope actually but I fear mostly in what state will I be when I am dying. will I be able to say the shahaadah. will a die suddenly like a car accident when I am unable to say "ashhadu anlaa ilaaha illahu wa ashhadu ana muhamada rasuulu laah" and lastly how will I face my creater and sustainer of this world. May allah forgive our bad doings for he is the forgiver of all sins.

and welcome brother

Innalhamdulillah...Wa salamu alaykum

Our beloved messenger may the peace and blessing be upon him and those who follow him...Said,"Truly Death is agony!"refer to the Seerah(bio)of the Raasul Saas! Generally people dont fear death itself...rather what lies afterwards! What state will you be in when u Stand in front of your creator?

Personally I accept death as a fact (Quraan &Hadith). An african sayin on death' Do the maize and the beans ask the harvester where they are going to be stored ? No, right. You see death in life everyday and beleive that one day it will be yours , when ? Allah Yalaam.

What I fear is the accounts I will present to my Lord. Which as an exam im still preparing myself . I pray that i will cease not to perfect myself and backslide into the world of temptation and vile.

May Allah protect us from our Nafs , keep us strong on His path and give us a good ending. Amin

I think the question is more aptly enquired if one paraphrases it to "Should we fear Death". We should not fear death per se as it is an inevitable reality; we should fear Allah, for He is the sole judge on that dreadful day. Ancient Philosophers have always claimed that Death was a boon and not a bane. What say you with respetct to this?

Its good to fear death and get prepared when it comes and who ever is ready for the death is a person who has a chance of going into heaven inshalah so hey you will never know when your'e time is up but just think of how old you are and how many good thing have you done since then or how many bad sins have you done that god does not appriciate it so its time for my brother and sister to get ready for death. hope this is something good.
