Hargeisa(Qarannews)- Two foreign workers charged with illegally entering Somaliland have been brought to Hargeisa's central police station. The two men were arrested Sunday on the outskirts of Las Qorey in Eastern Sanaag by members of the Somaliland Defence Forces.

 

The two men are from Yemen and China but appear to be nationalised citizens of Canada. All reports indicate that the two men are in good health and co-operating with the Somaliland police services.

 

The men had been transferred from Erigavo after their arrest on Sunday. Reliable sources within the Somaliland Police Force have confirmed that four other men from the Puntland region of Somalia who were accompanying the two foreign workers were also arrested on Sunday are currently on remand in Erigavo.

 

According to reports the two foreign workers appear to be employees of a Canadian company (not registered with the Canadian government) currently conducting survey in the Puntland region of Somalia.

 

The Somaliland Police Force are currently investigating how the two workers entered Somaliland territory without legal permission.
