Somali government warns of new offensive

Four days of fierce fighting between Ethiopian-backed government forces and Islamic insurgents has killed 381 people, a local human rights organization said Monday, as the government warned residents to abandon their homes ahead of a new military offensive.

 

"For the last four days we have registered 381 deaths and 565 people wounded," said Sudan Ali Ahmed, chairman of Elman Human Rights Organization.

 

The Somali government backed by Ethiopian forces called on civilians in the capital to leave their homes in disputed areas ahead of a new military offensive against a lethal Islamic insurgency.

 

Salad Ali Jelle, the deputy defense minister, said the government does not recognize a cease-fire negotiated between Ethiopian military and clan elders.

 

"We call on the civilians living in terrorist-held areas in Mogadishu to abandon their houses because it is possible that government troops may target these areas any time," Jelle said. "We have to clean Al-Qaida elements from Mogadishu."

^^^No saxib we are trying to safe a new generation from what happened over tha past 16 years. These cowards can not use Mogadishu as a safehouse, they can not use civilians as human shields. They are being crusehd and insha Allah all will be over very soon.

 

The governemnt has given them three months but they wasted it and instead called for a clan-jihad. No saxib force is the only language they speak.

^We all understand the intention behind the crackdown but don't you think the civilians have gone through enough in the last four days. Either way, there is no military solution to this conflict. Dialogue is the only solution.

Dialogue was available for the last 3 months. The president spoke with all facets of Xamar including the former president Abdiqasim. PM Geedi met with many civil society groups and clan elders and focused on how to disarm people.

 

However some wanted to keep the bililiqo and be the xaran ku naax that they are. So the TFG has only one solution...
