Talking of great speeches (not plagiarised ones by the way, naughty naughty boys). Here is Mark Antony’s from William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, but first let me give you a quick introduction to this speech!

 

Brutus and the conspirators had killed Caesar ( Et tu, Brute!). Brutus had given a great speech and managed to convince the mob that Caesar deserved to die because he was too ambitious and thought himself to be bigger than Rome! Antony, persuaded Brutus to let him talk to the crowd and conned him into believing he was on the side of the murderers. Antony gave the following speech (I’m sure you’ll recognise the first three words if not the whole speech):

 

 

 

 

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;

I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their bones;

So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus

Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it.

Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest--

For Brutus is an honourable man;

So are they all, all honourable men--

what difference is it if it was house or field?

A field negro was a tough coockie who didnt take cr*p from his master and was therefore less favoured. The house negro was more favoured by the master and hence got the breaks/extras the master thought he deserved. Like sending his kids to school, looking after them when they were sick etc etc. Many house neros were also born in America, but of a lighter colour due to their moms being raped by the master. Seeing his own kids the master would keep them in the house and look after them.
