Why should Somalis move beyond this tribal mentality and what is democracy?

A very good video Marco.

 

I believe he said that it is unrealistic to eradicate tribes or in our case clans because it is deeply ingrained in our make up. However for the greater good of unity one should focus on what can make the greater Somalia prosporues and stable even at the expense of one s clan.

 

However like a nomad stated ones in this site when asked should Somaliland be apart of the Greater S

At the moment its fair to say there is no alternative for the average joe but to depend on his tribe. This government has made people feel very insecure and at a time when we should be moving past our tragic past the “President” and warlords on top of the TFG have opened new wounds.

^ Even during the time when the Arta conference was going on ..... it was frowned upon by the SL government to watch the Arta conference in public shaneemooyinka hargeisa but many people were watching it.

 

I remember watching the Euro 2000 Football tournament one night in hargeisa after the match ended. A pre-recorded Arta conference was put on .... Initially the reaction was strong and some people were angry but after a while cooler heads prevailed and we ended up watching until the wee hours... many expressed their desire for unity.

 

before that day I would have never believed that the people of SL would be open to unity regardless of the situation to the south but now I believe there is hope yet.

Alas, even the most ardent proponents of Unity and Greater Somalia have been consterned by the Invasion and Warlords, some supported out of sectarism and corruption, to overturn our golden opportunity to establish Shariah.

 

However, Muslims should struggle united against Secularism and other Colonial Legacies if we are to witness the same successes as our forefathers under Imam Ahmed Gurey inshallah...
