The battles occurred as follows: On 19 January 2008, eight colonial soldiers were killed and 11 others were wounded in a fierce battle that took place in Biya-Karare in Segag district. On 18 January 2008, a nocturnal attack was carried out against colonial troops in Yu'ub town. Details of losses inflicted on them were unavailable. On 17 January 2008, a colonial army Ural truck was destroyed in Ali San-Ad in Duhun district. Over 50 colonial soldiers on board the vehicle were killed. On 15 January 2008, one colonial soldier was killed and another was wounded in fighting in Maygag-Dhere in Fik district. On 14 January 2008, a surprise attack was carried out against colonial troops who had come to Arra-Jif, Danod district, to conduct a military operation. Details of losses inflicted on them were unavailable. On 13 January 2008, twenty colonial soldiers were killed and 13 others were wounded in a fierce battle that occurred at a place between Lahelow and Wafdud. Between 13 and 18 January 2008 a number of nocturnal attacks were carried out against colonial soldiers who had come to Dusmo to conduct military operations. The troops fled the area in the face of sustained attacks on them. On 12 January 2008 colonial troops came under a surprise attack in Garbo-Qudhun in Degeh Bur district. Details of losses inflicted on them were unavailable. On 11 January 2008, colonial troops suffered unspecified losses following a nocturnal attack on them in Degeh Madow town. On the same date, two colonial soldiers were killed and another was wounded in a battle that occurred in Habal Wadad in Fik district. Colonial soldiers stationed in Gobayo in Fik also came under a surprise attack. Details of their losses are unavailable. On January 2008, ten colonial soldiers were killed and 11 others were wounded in fighting in Dhiddin in Dolo district. On the same date, five colonial soldiers were killed and three others were wounded in Eley also in Dolo. The troops had gone there on a military mission. On 9 January 2008, a unit of the ONLA [****** National Liberation Army] carried out a nocturnal attack on colonial troops in Duhun town, inflicted undetermined casualties on them. On the same date, colonial troops based in Gunagado came under a nocturnal attack during which they suffered undetermined losses. On 8 January 2008, a nocturnal attack was launched on colonial troops stationed in Gunagado town. Details of their losses were unavailable. On 6 January 2008, an ONLA unit attacked colonial soldiers who had come to Mordhe, near Gurdumi, on a military mission. Three soldiers were killed and two others were wounded in the attack. On the same date, colonial forces were attacked in Gurdumi town, killing two soldiers and wounding three others. On 5 January 2008, colonial troops based in Dig was attacked, killing three soldiers and wounded four others. On the same date, a nocturnal attack was carried out against colonial soldiers who had come to Las Galolin, Degeh Bur district, to conduct a military operation. Details of their casualties were unavailable. On 4 January 2008, four colonial soldiers were killed and six others were wounded in a battle that occurred at a place called Horo Hawen in Fik district. On the same date, 10 colonial soldiers were killed and five others were wounded in a battle that took place in Ged-Dher near Dig. Also on the same date a colonial army deserter was captured.
