Sky Posted July 3, 2005 'Special interest' nations The following are the 35 countries the U.S. Border Patrol considers of "special interest" because of alleged sponsorship or support of terrorism, according to internal data provided by Border Patrol sources. Illegal immigrants apprehended from these nations are subjected to criminal database checks as well as additional investigation from immigration or FBI investigators with federal Joint Terrorism Task Forces. The nations are Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritania, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
