Jacaylbaro Posted June 12, 2008 The Horn of Africa is getting a new face, it seems a new chapter is beginning from now on. ETHIOPIA Ethiopia is in a state of war. They invaded Somalia and their military personnel are fighting in the streets of Mogadishu killing as much innocent people they can reach using different weapons. Lately, there have been indicents that proved their weakness in Somalia when the resisntance expanded their war in the other regions of the country. The hit and run, capturing villages, towns and regions put the Ethiopians in a difficult situation which forced them to evacuate their forces most of the regions in the South and sometimes using the same tactics to hit and run. Ethiopia is also in a state of war from within according to the latest developments in Somali region. ONLF is increasing their attacks and that showed the Melez and co are failing to bring stability to that region. Ethiopa is also in a state of war at the border with Eritrea. The deadly fightings that took place few years ago are still sending their signals to tell more clashes in the near future. The UN and international mediations didn't bring any positive results in that area and a final hit is expected to start any minute. ERITREA This is what i call the madness of the horn. They are fighting with Ethiopia at the border between the two country. Contrary to what was expected during the Eritrean independence, the Eritrean President waged war against his causin in Ethiopia resulting the demise of thousands of people. Eritrea again fought against Yemen which also resulted the death of hundreds. Again they attacked Djibouti few years back but no much clashed reported since that time. Eritrea is fighting in Somalia. If not by its own military personnel they are there supporting the armed militias with all they can. They supported the ICU willing they will fight with Ethiopia from the other side. Now they are giving a shelter to the most radical persons of the insurgents. As per the UN reports, during the time of the ICU, Eritrea was providing them with weapons and a number of Military experts to train the ICU fighters. DJIBOUTI It is sad that Eritrea attacked Djibouti in the daylight and in front of the eyes of the world. The fighting is still going on but if it turns to a full-scale war, will Djibouti have the capacity to resist even for one day ?? France is not willing to defend the tiny country until some political issues is solved and the US doesn't have the mandate to defend the country for the moment. As the capital of Djibouti is not that far away from the border between the two country, the fighting could reach the capital any minute and that would be the end of this country. SOMALIA Somalia is out of the question in this context. 17 years of civil war followed by a year and half of occupation the country is still decending to more deadly and bloody fightings that take many shapes and names throughout the years. Ethiopia and Eritrea are fighting in Somalia. US and Islamista are fighting in Somalia Different clans are fighting among theirselves in Somalia. Arabs and non-Arabs are fighting in Somalia Warlords are fighting among them in Somalia. SOMALILAND This is the only peaceful place in the horn of Africa. Somaliland currently maintains good relationship with Ethiopia along the border between the two countries. Somaliland also maintains a good security relationship at the border with Djibouti although the two countries do not agree in the political arena. The only problem that Somaliland has is in the eastern part of the country where there has been clashed with Somalia. In the recent months, that dispute has decreased and the tension is going down. STOIC Posted June 12, 2008 Jaceylka, Don’t pay attention to the grinning faces above. The burgeoning state of Somaliland is shining! In the eyes of many Somaliland represents a nation of hope. By any one standard, Somaliland political and economic landscape is unheard of in that part of the world where warlords are the king of the political jungle. Somaliland insistence of perfection and self-reliance is something to be noted.
