As a result, the reverberations were felt from now neighboring countries Somalia, Djabouti, Ethiopia and Kenya. In a letter to Dahir Rayaale Kahin, UK Prime minsiter Gordon Brown wrote “On behalf of the Majesty Queen Elizebeth and the British people, I hereby recognize Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.
