Haashim Posted June 22, 2003 Assalaamu Calaykum, Just to rescue this thread from the dust bin  , if we don't have a topic from ourself let's contribute for other bros/sis usefull topics. Greatness of Allah The following speech was given by a scholar. Here is the summary: The Shaikh said that our actions are based on how much belief we have in our hearts. If our belief is strong, then our actions will be strong. Then he mentioned that every effort has a name, a place where it is done and a result. For example, Farming is a name of an effort. Farming is done on land and the result is fruits, vegetables, etc. Similarly, Da'wah il-Allah (calling people towards Allah) is a name of an effort. It is done on the hearts of people and the result is guidance (Hidaya) from Allah. Then the Sheikh discussed about the Greatness of Allah. He said that if two students come to a teacher with questions and starts asking at the same time, no matter how knowledgeable the teacher is, he will tell one student to talk at a time. Because, he is unable to understand both at the same time. But on the other hand, Allah told us that if the first human being till the last one to born along with all the Jinns, if they were to gather in a field and start asking from Allah, Allah can hear all of them at the same time and reply to all of them at the same time. Even though the people are speaking in their own languages, in own tone and ways, yet Allah is able to hear and understand them all. Allahu Akbar! If a student is far away from the teacher and ta lks, then the teacher has problems understanding what the student is saying. However, no matter how far we are, Allah can hear us, distance doesn't affect the hearing of Allah. Allah is able to see what is under the water of the ocean and what is under the dark soil of the ground. If you are walking with some friends and suddenly you look at something haraam, the friends might not have seen you doing it but Allah has seen the treachery of the eyes and He knows what the hearts conceal. Allah knows how many hairs there are on your head and on the head of each individual on earth. He knows how many hairs have fallen and how many hairs will grow. He knows how many hairs will turn grey. This Great, All Mighty, Allah didn't keep our success in wealth. He kept our success in following Islam. People used to look at Karoon and say: How lucky is Karoon. If we only had this much wealth. However, Allah Ta'ala showed the whole mankind that the same wealth brought destruction to karoon for not obeying the commandments of Allah. Success is not in streng th. The people of 'Ad were very powerful. They used to say "Who is stronger than us?" Allah sent them a messenger to remind them that "Don't they think that He who has created them is stronger than them?" But the people refused the messenger. Allah sent strong wind, which destroyed each and every one of them. Not even one of them was alive. Now who is stronger? Allah is able to protect in any condition. When Ferawoon decided to kill all the boys born in Bani Israel, his ministers approached him saying that these are the boys who grow up and become our slaves. If he is going to kill them then who is going to serve us? Then Ferawoon decided that one year he will kill and another year he won't. If Allah wanted, He could've made Musa (AS) born in the year when Ferawoon was not killing. But Musa (AS) was born in the year when Ferawoon was killing. And Harun (AS), Musa (AS)'s brother, was born in the year when Ferawoon wasn't killing. And Allah protected Musa (AS). W e cannot see Iman (faith) but we can see the effects of Iman. For example, we cannot see wind but we can see the effects of wind (branches of trees moving, our hairs flying, etc.) The same way, the effect of iman is that we do good deeds. An old man being able to get up for Tahajjud in a winter night shows us the effect of iman. The Shaikh said that he attended a Janaza last monday where a whole family had died. The brother who died used to be extremely rich and owned his own private plane. He was going to visit some place with his family (Himself, wife, two sons and two daughters). The plane crashed on the way and all of them died. The moment before boarding the plane, he didn't know what was to come. Today, our death shroud could already be in the store yet we have big big plans. May Allah give us the understanding of this worldly life which is nothing but a deception. If you live in Toronto, you can hear weekly lectures like this in Medinah Ma sjid. It's every saturday after Isha Salah.

Haashim Posted June 24, 2003 Three Solid Truths Once, a person was verbally abusing Abu Bakr (RA) while the Prophet (SAW) was curiously watching with a smile. After taking much abuse quietly, Abu Bakr responded to a few of his comments. At this, the Prophet exhibited his disapproval, got up and left. Abu Bakr caught up with the Prophet and wondered, 'O Messenger of Allaah, he was abusing me and you remained sitting. When I responded to him, you disapproved and got up.' The Messenger of Allaah responded, 'There was an angel with you responding to him. When you responded to him, Shaytaan took his place.' He then said, 'O Abu Bakr, there are three solid truths: If a person is wronged and he forbears it (without seeking revenge) just for the sake of Allaah (SWT), Allaah will honour him and give him the upper hand with His help; if a person opens a door of giving gifts for cementing relationships with relatives, Allaah will give him abundance; and, if a person opens a door of seeking charity for himself to increase his wealth, Allaah will further reduce his wealth.' Reported from Aboo Hurairah in Mishkaah and Musnad Ahmad. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Xafsa Posted June 24, 2003 Ayah An-Nisa (4) Ayah 134: (Interpretors: M Al-Hilali & M Muhsin Khan) Whoever desires a reward in this life of the world, then with Allâh (Alone and none else) is the reward of this worldly life and of the Hereafter. And Allâh is Ever All Hearer, All Seer. Hadeeth Sahih Muslim Book 42, Number 7138: (Abdul Hamid Siddiqui) Suhaib reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (God), thus there is a good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it patiently), there is a good for him in it. Samafal Posted June 24, 2003 Maasha Allah, There are a lot of useful naseexas going on in this thread, Specially the words of brother Muraaad. Remembering death is very essential part of our Ebaada because it reminds us that we are not gona last in this life, and any time meaning any time and seconds the angel of Death can take our soul. If we really believe in that more than we say it in our tongue we would have given more attention to our sins and undesirable action we do in our day-to-day life. Who would have thought the brother we all known and loved could die that easily after going about his daily routine and retiring for quite night sleep. He was healthy and energetic as we are and I ask my self why him and not you!!!!!! And the answer I come up with is that mine was not yet and my turn is about to come anytime without any notice as it came to my brother. Now we have to ask ourselves what have we prepared for death if it can come to us any time any where? Quite often we go about our lives thinking this is not gona happen to us!!! But who guarantees us that it will not happen to us. Imagine if we were told that we gona die tomorrow what would we have done with the little time left for us? I would think if we really believe in Allah and the day of Judgement, we would have made ourselves busy praying to allah until it happens. So why are we gambling with our live is what I don't know Allah knows best Wassalamu Alaikum
Haashim Posted June 26, 2003 Doctor Dies, Patient Lives The following incident was narrated by a well known preacher of this age known as Colonel Sayed Amir Uddin, currently a Canadian resident. Over 6,000 Non-Muslims have accepted Islam through him. He narrates: I visited a friend in a hospital who had severe cancer. While I was there, a doctor came and gave him the bad news that he will live for only one more week. Then the doctor left to get some medicines for him. As the doctor was going down the stairs, he slipped and fell down the stairs. He was seriously injured and died on that day. On the other hand, my friend who was suppose to die in one week lived for three more years! This incident shows that death is unpredictable. Today we hear about hundreds of people dieing around us but Satan tells you and me that let them die, you have a long way to go.
Haashim Posted June 27, 2003 Friday sermon by Shaikh Thubaiti The Imam and Khateeb of Prophets Mosque, Sheikh Abdul Bari Al- Thubaiti, in his Friday sermon said, "Every believer who does good deeds shall he rewarded with a good and happy life by Allah Almighty." Sheikh Al-Thubaiti said, a good life is the one in which a person earns lawful livelihood and remains contented with what Allah has given him. The world today is full of worries and sorrows. There are many tribulations and animosities. Modern civilisation has produced many luxuries and amenities for mankind, but it could not ensure happiness and tranquillity to everyone. Modern science has made great achievements that produce sensual pleasure and superficial and physical prosperity. However, it could not secure happiness that settles into the heart and soul," he said. "Some people think that good life is associated with luxurious living, amassing wealth and occupying lofty and positions of authority (in the society). However, a good, secure, calm and happy life comes only with true belief in Allah Almighty, the Creator of the world, Who should be praised and worshipped alone without associating any partners with Him. If only a person knows his Lord full well and believes firmly that He alone determines the destiny of all creatures, then he will fear no one except his Lord; seek help from no one except from Him; and humble himself before no one but Him. He will then lead a good and peaceful life," Sheikh Al-Thubaiti said. "Those who seek benefactors other than Allah, be they rulers or men of wealth and power, can be considered as wretched and unhappy people. Good life comes with piety through Allah's worship and abstinence from sins,' he said. "Allah says in the Holy Qur'an: "Behold! Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve; those who believe and constantly guard against evil for them are glad tidings, in the life of the present and in the Hereafter: no change can there be in the words of Allah. This is indeed the supreme felicity." (Qur'an 10:63) "The devoted believer is the happiest individual who lives a life of eternal bliss in complete peace of mind;' he said "Allah has promised to be on the side of those who are pious and do righteous deeds. He makes them victorious over their enemies and delivers them from the disbelievers' intrigues if they (Muslims) remain patient and pious. "Prayer (Salat) is the greatest means of attaining good life. It gladdens the heart, soothes the soul and brings equanimity to the mind. A person feels relaxed and free from worries soon after he offers prayers, which gives him spiritual power that strengthens him to face the problems of life,' Sheikh Thubaiti said. "Glorifying Allah's name is a tool for gaining composure and feeling of being at ease that comes with the sense of being close to Him. "One who feels closeness to Allah, does not fear any other being except Him, Who will be on his side to help him in difficult situations," he added. Sheikh Thubaiti noted that happiness also comes when a person seeks Allah's forgiveness if (at all) he commits a sin or has been disobedient to the Lord. "A happy person is also the one who is satisfied with whatever Allah has bestowed on him. "The Prophet (pbuh) of Islam said: '(The example of) a person who has a healthy body, his daily bread and peace of mind, is as if he has got the whole world in his hands," Sheikh Thubaiti said.
