Jacaylbaro Posted March 7, 2008 Berlin - Germany promised Thursday to consider a request from the east African nation of Djibouti for assistance for its presidential guard. Prime Minister Dileita Mohamed Dileita sought the assistance during a meeting with German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung in Berlin. The prime minister said the guard needed help to main its fleet of cars and motorcycles, according to the defence ministry. Jung praised Djibouti as a factor of stability on the Horn of Africa. Germany has a base in the territory used by its naval units taking part in Operation Enduring Freedom, part of the US-led global war on terrorism. Germany currently has a frigate and 250 troops and sailors deployed in the region.
