General Duke Posted May 11, 2009 The issue here is that Mogadishu is seen as the last soft target for the armed religious groups. They may attack the Northern states by sucide bombings and targeted killing but because of the populations hostility towards them and their defeat of their like minded groups in those regions its not easy for them to gain much ground in those states. The fact that Al shabaab has been defeated and routed in Galgaduud a region with small population and that even their foreign fighters corpses were displayd in public highlights their weakness. Its not certain that they have won Mogadishu and a long stalemate seems to be the conclusion from the four days of urban warfare. Thus lets watch the outcome, and hope it ends soon for the sake of the population.
