Jacaylbaro Posted February 3, 2009 Hargeysa (Somalilandpress) - The second general convention meeting for the Somaliland’s ruling party, UDUB was held today at Maansoor hotel in the capital city of Hargeisa. The long awaited conference which its preparation was seen in the country for the last couple of months was attened by more than 1200 attendees from all over the world including the current President of Somaliland, Dahir Rayaale Kahin. The theme of the conference was “The Beginning of finalizing the Somaliland Sucess” was the largest one ever held by one of the political parties in the country. The security was tight that some roads were closed and the police was available all the roads around the area while the other security forces were at the hotel checking the guests documents and making sure everything is set fo the safety of the conference. Speeches were made during the opening session of the conference by the Vice President who is also the head of the preparatory committee of the conference. The Vice President briefly talked about the political plan of the party highlighting the past achievements and the future plans. The party’s delegations from the regions of Somaliland and diaspora also gave their reports of their respective areas explaining what has been achieved and the support of the peoople living in the other regions of the country. At the end of the session the President of Somaliland, Dahir Rayale Kahin gave a 40 minutes speech talking about different issues that are reflecting the party including the achivements made in the different sectors of the development. Mr. Kahin’s speech covered a lot of issues that Somalilandpress will publish it in a separate post very soon. Tomorrow’s session is the most important part of the conference where the Presidential candidates for the coming elections will be chosen. somalilandpress staff are directly reporting from the conference hall and will regularly update our readers around the world.
