Castro Posted January 7, 2007 NAIROBI (CNN) -- Plans by the top U.S. diplomat to Africa for an unannounced visit to Mogadishu were canceled after word of the trip was reported by the news media, according to U.S. officials. Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Frazer was set to visit Mogadishu Sunday, accompanied by CNN and the Associated Press. The deteriorating security situation in Mogadishu also raised concerns over safety, the officials said. Frazer would have been the first high-ranking U.S. diplomat to visit Somalia in over a decade. The military transport would have been the first time U.S. military personnel were in Mogadishu since the U.S. military withdrew in 1994 in the wake of the Black Hawk down incident. --CNN Pentagon Correspondent Barbara Starr contributed to this report. Castro Posted January 7, 2007 Did today's riots have anything to do with this?
Taleexi Posted January 7, 2007 Indeed that is the simplest correlation that we can assume might caused this canceled trip.. however there may be other implicit reasons too
Castro Posted January 7, 2007 ^ I think the Americans had no faith in either the puppet regime or the Ethiopians to ensure the safety of the US delegation. Short of bringing their own troops to provide security, they probably had no choice but to cancel.
General Duke Posted January 7, 2007 ^^^I think Clanist Castro fear is becoming too obvious, the fact that they even want to come is a problem for you. Its getting hot in hells kitchen. Where is Riyoole, anyone?
Wisdom_Seeker Posted January 7, 2007 Yeey is too petrified to go to Mogadishu, what makes you think that an America diplomat would go to that lawless city? Ha, it looks like she ditched him. Soon America will realize how ineffective Aisha Yusuf is and will turn to the warlords to get their deal of the bargain.
General Duke Posted January 7, 2007 ^^^Obviosuly he less petrified than Xasan Dahir, IndacADE, Abukar Cadaan and others who ran away from Mogadishu after making all that noise, what about Abdiqasin? What happened to his promise of taking his AK47, give us a break.. President Yusuf was in Baidoa, they tried to threaten him, blow a bomb [which killed his brother] and ten they attacked him, thus by Allah's choice he stands tall , while all the fakers run for cover. Wisdom_Seeker Posted January 7, 2007 LOL, the man came riding on Ethiopian tanks, ooh how brave is this liver-missing senile.
Castro Posted January 7, 2007 ^ Actually, Jendayi Frazer was supposed to fly Yeey into Muqdisho as no one else could. Alas, she realized that her safety wasn't worth the man who has sold everything including his soul for one night in Villa Somalia.
