Meiji Posted July 4, 2009 Aideeds faction was one side of the story. Who burned and looted the agricultural lands of the Somalis in Baay and Bakool? Aideeds faction and the war in Mogadishu only prevented food aid from reaching those people. They were robbed from their food in the first place. sool_boy Posted July 4, 2009 are u defending usc/aideed? the topic is about aideed so stick on the topic ,somalia will never be united if we defend the crimnals for qabiil bases.
Meiji Posted July 4, 2009 ^^ Present the full story or dont present the story. Somalia will never be united if we have half-story tellers like yourself.
Che -Guevara Posted July 4, 2009 ^How about you tell the other side of the story?
Meiji Posted July 4, 2009 ^^ We all know the whole story: - Barre's forces conducted a scorched earth policy in their retreat (and also possible ''punishment'' on the riverine peoples who were suspected of aiding the USC). - USC forces (corruption) and the raging war (between SNF and USC) hampers the delivery of Food Aid to the famine-stricken regions. We all know that story too well, it is pointless and utterly insulting to the victims if people distort the story and present a half-story to use it for their political propaganda. Centurion Posted July 4, 2009 Kouchner must have been there in his capacity as Health minister in those days. He's also a doctor and co-founded Medecins sans frontieres.
Gabbal Posted July 5, 2009 Tragic. This blocking of food aid to the area which would have prevented any starvation from occurring was what led to the revised UN mandate to hunt Aydiid from its previous humanitarian oriented one. It is what led to the dissolution of UNOSOM I and the beginning of UNOSOM II.
Som@li Posted July 5, 2009 These crimes were committed collectively by the USC, 350,000 starved to death in Biodaa area, they took thier farms, which was their only livelihood, and refused aid to come, Monsters! Somalis must remember those people killed inhumanely in those days, and they must be reimbursed.

If Siad Barre's forces did not burn and loot the food staples of the people in Baay and Bakool they wouldn't face food shortages in the first place . The blocking of the Food Aid only made it worse, but the scorched earth policy destroyed the agricultural lands of those people and thus caused the famine. The sequence of events: Scorched earth policy ---> famine. Blocking of Food Aid by corruption and war ---> mass starvation to death. As for Dabshid, Your argument is solely based on your hate and cuqdad. It has no basis in historical facts.
Som@li Posted July 5, 2009 ^mate, you can't re-write history, and you can't shift the actions of you clan, after all they knew nothing but kill. ( Aidid was one man,and couldn't committed all these atrocities if he didn't have people like you ) and that tells me why u can't sort out your issues till today, It is time you stand up for your actions, and then you will find solutions. Meiji Posted July 5, 2009 History is written and everybody can read it. Presenting half-stories to use as a political propaganda against certain groups is very insulting to the hunderds of thousands of Somali civilians that perished during that famine.
