Yeah i read what he said and it is constructive criticism but alot of his points unfortunately are not factual.

 

For example he said in his first point that puntland has done nothing. Well if that was the case, why are people fleeing to puntland daily? why is it bossaso today and bossaso 91 is two different worlds?

 

To reach such a conclusion is quite fruitless. Secondly as far as the taxes being levied on the port, i don't know where he gets that from. I do know that the government is reforming it's tax revenues to other sectors and not necessarily the port. These funds are to be used for institution building not as he put "chewing sessions".

 

Puntland is getting on it's feet, it has done well so far, 11 years it achieved alot, however what this man forgets to mention is 1 crucial fact. Puntland supports the tfg with resources, materials, and also the tfg gets a slice on the tax revenue of puntland.

 

He forgot to mention that and how that has contributed to puntland economy dwindling. These new measures taken by puntland finance minister is to re-do these mistakes and properly manage the economy in mature way.

 

He also made some comments about cade muse not doing anything in the last administration. Every institution that you see today in puntland was done by cade. Abdullahi yusuf only created 2 institions police force and military. He focussed all his resources in those two.

 

Cade muse took that around and started building more hospitals, creating an oil sector, bring foreign investments like range resources and lootah and jabiri to puntland. Cade muse is also responsible for the democratisation blue print that puntland is following today.

 

As for his claim of puntland being qabil, if that was the case why did reer mudug vote for ilkajir? whilsts reer bari voted for farole?

 

Sure puntland system is not perfect as of yet, but it needs to mature, you can't just hold a democratic election when ppl have suffered the effects of wars. You need to build strong institutions, law and order, provide opportunities to people first and when they get used to living in an orderly society then you can move into democratic phase.

 

However it is not over-night, you can't just hold an election for example 1 year after mogadishu calms down, you need to provide strong institutions first that can defend the democracy against any threats from society.

 

The only thing he said that had some merit as far as i am concerned is the part of indepedence, i don't believe it is a wise move at all.

COWKE, I agree the indepence thing is wrong at all this experiment has failed in somaliland therefore puntland should not try to repeat it . it will produce the same result. even somaliland is not serious about this "goonisutag & waa dhaqaaqday" they want use it as bargaining chip to have good deal in the future somali federal republic ,it is mery tactic.

There has been a lot built, which is the reason that people from from all over come to Puntland, the number one factor is that it is an area of peace. I think that Dr. Yusuf Issa who seems to be able to criticize so well, should be given the presidency to see how he can run the show.

 

Puntland during Siad Barres and other recognized leaders was the most neglected part of Somalia, why didn't he mention that not a single airport was built in the entire state? Why didn't he mention that NW Somalia got tons of funds to build Hargeysa especially the crucial airport and sea port. I even heard Riyaale lives in an old Siad Barre Villa, where Morgan use to live. Still the only thing built in Puntland was ONE road and the seaport that was never completed because the war broke out.

 

These "Dr" have no idea how to write articles that are fair and look at the issue from different perspectives. They have no clue how to write a piece that weighs in all the factors.

 

Puntland is trying to build it's own airport, because it has been given NOTHING. Puntland is trying to build new roads because it has been given NOTHING. Laasqoray is trying to build it's own sea port. The man can try and twist the facts and make the state out to be a place with so much problems and qabiil, I don't think there is a single qabiil that is not represented in Bosasso, co-existing peacefully.

 

As I just mention. The area that is now referred to as Puntland has been given nothing when there was an effective government in Somalia and was the most neglected area in Somalia's history. We in Puntland are trying to build a state from scratch.
