This was an oil field exploration that was a pet project of melees. 100 hundred elite ethio soldiers were guarding this place.. but they got smoked.

The fact Ethiopian forces are overstretched and bogged down in Mogadishu gives ONLF fighters unprecedented advantage. They need to make use of this opportunity.

 

This incident will give them the media exposure they always wanted. It will highlight the plight of ****** region. It’s possible that those Chinese citizens who were caught in the crossfire, and subsequently got killed, were highly skilled engineers and experts. As a result, Ethiopia will probably suffer a credibility problem, and China will think long and hard before it sends its citizens to remote areas in ****** again. That will halt the oil exploration Ethiopia so desperately wanted going. If that happens, it will be a win for the resistance in that region.

 

Also since Ethiopia has been getting positive appraisals from the west after its illegal invasion in Somalia, this incident steals Ethiopia’s moment of fame and highlights the ethnic divisions and armed struggles within it, which so many Western states conveniently tend to forget.
