Jacaylbaro Posted August 24, 2010 Hargeisa(The Horn) -- The President of the Republ;ic of Somaliland H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud (Siilaanyo) received a delegation led by the British envoy in Addis Ababa which paid him a courtesy call in his office yesterday. The purpose of the three man delegation was to enhance the bilateral relations between Somaliland and Britain and how the two sides could start coordination. The President briefed the visiting delegations on his government’s policy in regard to development in security, infrastructures, health and other sectors. The President emphasized how his government is committed in collaborating with neighbouring countries and the international community in enhancing the security in the region as well as fighting terrorism and piracy. He stressed that Somaliland was ripe and is ready to move forward in development and required support of the international community to achieve its ambitions. The head of the delegation Ambassador Mr. Norman ling accompanied by Matt Woods, deputy secretary of the British embassy in Ethiopia Jonathan Hargeaves, head of DFID in Nairobi congratulated the people of Somaliland and the president on the successful elections which was conducted in the country on 26th June this year. The visiting British envoy pointed out that the elections uplifted Somaliland’s reputation within the international community hence directed the focus of his country and the European Union, who are ready to support Somaliland in development issues including security, infrastructure, health, education and democratization.
