Caato iyo Hiiraale

Recommended Posts

Yeniceri

Col Barre Hiiraale and his Isbahaysiga have taken a step to help curb the devastation the famine is causing in the Jubba regions, while his counterpart and fellow warlord, Cismaan Caato, says he's not concerned with "the Parliament" because, as he sees it, the TFG isn't concerned with resolving the ongoing clan conflict in Mudug and Galgaduud regions (Gobollada Dhexe).

In both instances, the failure of the TFG comes to light: its not working hard to help stop the violence in the country and its not aiding the millions of Somali nationals facing a food shortage crisis. Yet, they're eager to sign contracts worth millions with security firms and passport agencies. Misplaced priorities? Indeed.

But the responses of the two ex-warlords is quite interesting. One guy (Hiiraale) takes on the challenge himself, while the other (Caato) plays the "finger-pointing" game and issues a retaliation. If Caato is really genuine about his concern for the Gobollada Dhexe conflict, then why didn't he act in the past year or so? Why wait until the Parliament is about to meet and then say he's not participating (as a punishment of sorts)? Warlord ways - as they say, old habits die hard.

Caato's stance does not help the people of Mudug. If he is telling the truth he should call back the technicals that left Xamar.

As for Hiiraale, he has supported the peace initative and has endorsed the Aden agreement. So while Ato is against everything Hiiraale is not.

Dhubad.

Col Hiiraale is the man who initiated the peace plan. Although, he would loved to host the meeting in Kismayo but when he realised is not going to happen he stood firm and stated that he will support the meeting regardless where it will happen.
