Liibaan Posted February 15, 2009 Sheikh Sharif " I believe that the way they[shabab] deal with people is not right" Question:Some Islamist groups have been very rigid in their application of what they see as Islamic law. People are flogged and even stoned. What is your view of their interpretation of Islam? Sheikh Sharif: I believe that the way they deal with people is not right and has nothing to do with Islamic Sharia law. Islam has a legal framework and courts. So for individuals to take their whip and flog people on the street is wrong.

Kashafa Posted February 15, 2009 ^^ Why is he correct ? Because he is your personal Saviour ? Because the ppl on TV said he was a 'moderate' 'peaceful' 'cleric' ? Because he shaved off his beard and wears a suit ? Why ? Why is he correct ? Here's an exercise in independent thinking and objectivity. Critise Shaykh Hotel on 3 issues, discuss them at length, paragrah to a point. Let's see if u have hope still. Btw, I agree with him on this issue(his last sentence). But I can explain why. Can you ? Can you explain why you are willing to "wait and see" or fully support the TFG and call for more forien mercanries and in the meantime party like it's prom with the latest cool kids, the peaceniks ? If I stuck a camera and mic in your face, could you explain, coherently, the discrepenacies of attacking the TFG yesterday and but supporting it today, without coming off as a ignorant hick or worse, a clan oppurtunist ? I guess what I'm asking you is: Do you have a brain, or are you just another charachter straight out of Animal Farm.(the novel).
Liibaan Posted February 15, 2009 Sheikh is right and 100% correct It’s true the way the shabab [misguided youth] deal with people is entirely wrong, for them to take their whip and flog people on the street is wrong and unacceptable as the sheikh said in the response. The solution is to teach the true and the correct interpretation of our great religion of Islam, those youth who grown up in a country totally ravaged by endless civil wars, what they lack is education, knowledge is power (not gun or whip) The Somali government led by Sheikh Sharif should make a priority to initiate a national program of youth rehabilitation and education, and schools (Madrasa) to teach the youth the holy Quran, Sunnah, Islamic history, and stories of our beloved prophet Mohammed and his companions (Asalaf Asaalix), Sheikh sharif travelled long distances to learn and seek knowledge in muslim countries of Sudan and Libya, and he learned Arabic language, Islamic studies, and geography. The president is good role model and his greatest asset will be to lead the youth by example, the sheikh himself is very young and youthful president and he is already popular among Somali youth.
