macalimuu Posted January 15, 2005 Presently, a myriad of Somali website and forums continue to filter the Internet with ever more increasing tales of Somali humanitarian catastrophes that are far beyond comprehension. Somalia is certainly one of the worst and most dangerous places to live in the world. This is so because everything in Somalia including politics, economy, and healthcare and even sport events is heading in the wrong direction: absolute downfall and disarray. The political leaders of our country continue to be shortsighted selfish thugs who are only more interested in personal fame and promote hateful and divisive policies that sanction more sufferings and the backwardness Yet in these desperate times, Somalis in the Diaspora who are at an advantage and somewhat well positioned and equipped to forge revolutionary change in Somalia, remain divided along clan lines or are somewhat detached from the realities of Somalia. Some of this hideous impassiveness is manifested in forums and sites run by Somalis in the diaspora. How we could make use of cyper forums for the betterment of our miserable state of affairs instead of just bickering and basing every site along clan and regional lines. Most sites are advocating for the same primitive clannish convictions of the warlords and their illiterate nomadic followers. Can we form a site that is progressively ground-breaking and free of unreasonable partiality to prop up new visions to unravel our tribulations? juba Posted January 15, 2005 macalimuu you are so right! the somali diaspora is the best canditate to change Somalia for the better and yet i see no change! is it laziness or the fear of the enormous task at hand? These forums should be dedicated to the betterment of Somalia, for example the political section, instead we waster our time critisizing the latest president instead of setting forth ideas of how to bring Somalia back to the light. I highly doubt that. Change in Somalia will come at the hands of those who're in the playing field; not those in the Diaspora, who're struggling to meet the ends. The Somalis in the Diaspora aren't even spectators in the playing field of Somalia. There's little or nothing they can do. And the fact they live in the West, the fact some obtained a degree in a field will not factor into the ability to forge a revolutionary change in Somalia.
