I dont agree with some all of this analysis, but again yet another political anaylsist of some credibility and an intimate working knowledge of somalia, more so i'd say than the vast majority of the posters and readers on here concludes that the TFG is a doomed organization failing ethopian and American support.

I.M Lewis is said to be THE expert on Somalis in the UK. It tells you something when he writes a article like that. Interestingly, he done another piece in the past where he advocated independence for Somaliland.

Reading this and other articles by other European writers in the Guardian and the Independent and elsewhere....one suspects that these Europeans are inderectly calling for war crimes charges against the EU and the African Union...I know the Americans are not signatoires of the ICC but are these European and African voices paving the grounds of charges against the EU and AU...? what are they up to...

Read on I.M. Lewis's:

There are many causal strands in the present conflagration of violence in Mogadishu, but the most obvious and the most regrettable is the external recognition that Abdillahi has been given by people who clearly have closed their minds to his lack of support within Somalia. One could say that it is only ignorance,
but I am afraid that it is worse than that, it is wilful ignorance on the part of those whose democratic values seem not to be applied to the Horn of Africa.
There is certainly no lack of ignorance within Somalia on how Abdillahi was appointed transitional president with massive Ethiopian support and how, with Ethiopian prompting, he chose as prime minister their candidate, a connection of Prime Minister Meles himself.
