Every now and then, in an Orwellian world where abject liars are 'holy' scholars and lowborn traitors are noble statesman, it is refreshing when you come across a truth-teller, one who gives a faithful rendition of the reality on the ground, untarnished with Is-Qancis.

On Amisom:

 

Despite the much perpetuated myth of AMISOM’s (African Union Mission in Somalia) so-called peacekeeping mission in the media, the situation on the ground here significantly differs from what we were used to hearing. Skim through the international dailies or the countless number of websites and you might read lines that conjure up images of heroic Ugandan and Burundi soldiers courageously defending the teetering government from the Islamist advancement.

 

It sounds plausible, perhaps even a little moving too, if you were a middle-aged Liverpudlian civil servant that is. But the reality, as I have recently come to realise, is quite different. Much like the Ethiopians before them, the AMISOM forces have earned for themselves the

vengeful wrath

of the local population. Ingrained in the hearts of the residents here is not a warm admiration for the Ugandans and Burundis, as well as the TFG, but rather a

strong feeling of hate and dislike

, particularly in the Bakaara Market.

In their attempt to bolster the fragile government’s authority, the AMISOM forces have been involved in almost a daily shelling campaign of Mogadishu’s residents. Hardly a day passes by in Mogadishu without hearing the sound of missiles and mortars

being fired into crowded residential or shopping areas

.

They said it was a common thing that many of the residents and people of Bakaara have become quite used to over the years. I turned to Jaamac Dheere, the restaurant owner, for an explanation.

 

‘

This happens everytime,’ he said shrugging his shoulders, ‘whenever they [AMISOM] are cornered by Al-Shabaab, they take it out on the innocent people and respond with shelling.’

After the shelling had stopped, I came out into the street. It was an entirely different scene than I witnessed only half an hour ago. A pile of debris lay scattered on the street where one of the mortars had landed, smoke billowed from some of the stalls nearby and the people ran to and fro in a state of pandemonium, examining their properties. As people began removing the dead bodies from the street and collecting amputated limbs that were scattered far and wide,

I noticed an elderly woman standing under the shade of a makeshift stall. With blood stained on her face, mixed with a steady trickle of tears, she raised her hands up and supplicated ‘may Allah destroy them. Oh Allah destroy them as they are destroying us.

I asked Mohammad Omar, the owner of the stall, what he thought of the AMISOM forces. A strange question in such a situation, but his answer was succinct and his tone understandably poignant.

‘They are nothing but pigs that should be slaughtered,’

‘ he replied, the wintry look of his face evaluating my stance on the matter.

 

And slaughtered they will be. Not only them, but every single last one of the Somali gaalo-raac xoolo, every single last one of the wretched prostitutes of the Dhoofaaraay entity, the Tigray Founded Gang(TFG). Every single last one of them inshallahu tacaala.

Without any obtrusive reporters recounting the grim details of this war to the world, AMISOM, it seems, have been relishing their notable accomplishment of turning Mogadishu into their very own slaughterhouse.

On Maxamed Dheere, favourite boot-licker of Ethiopia:

 

The governor of Middle Shabeelle in 2004, Maxamad Dheere was among the warlords who were on the American payroll for their alleged counter-terrorism operations which, of course, failed to produce any result. When, by mid 2006, the wave of Islamic Courts Union (ICU) swept through the Southern regions of Somalia and the warlords were easily defeated, he escaped to Ethiopia and stayed there for some time. By the end of 2006, when the Ethiopian invasion of Somalia was in full swing and the Ethiopian troops had embarked on their long-yearned genocide of the Somali people, Dheere was seen cheerfully escorting the invaders. Ululating with excitement, he urged his entire tribe, as well as Somalis in general, to support the invasion.

 

The troops are going to liberate the clan so accompany them with milk and water’ or ‘ciidamada beeshay xoraynayaan ee biyaha iyo baraxa ha laga daba qaado,’ were his famous words.

When he was released by mid 2009, he immediately escaped to neighbouring Kenya. When interviewed in Nairobi a few months ago about the events in Somalia, he famously claimed:

‘I am only hiding here in Kenya because I have no AMISOM tanks to protect me and I hold no responsibility

.’

Today, Maxamad Dheere is seen circling around the Villa Somalia compound, his contentment clearly unconcealed. The man who massacred countless number of innocent lives and oppressed thousands more is today said to be appointed as a Security Minister in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle. Something seems to be amiss here and I would not be wrong in my estimation that tribe had to be a major factor in his appointment. He hails from the same clan as Sharif. Blunders like these are perhaps what the Somali population needs to see more often, for they may, in time, prove to be the final straw that precipitates the demise of the feeble TFG regime

It is like appointing a common thief to guard a jewellery store. You know his record. You know his past. You know he will steal again, but still you appoint him the position.

Perhaps a time will come when the sword of Al-shabaab will cut the hand of the thief, as the masses rally behind them in Maslax

Inshallah, the saarim al-maslool of Al-Shabaab will soon cut off the hands(or should i say paws) of kilaab-ul-xabasha. Meesha aad gali lahaydeen aalaa rabaa. Oh wait:

^ , well, for starters, he writes a lot better than I do. Tan xigta, I get the feeling that he's some sorta journalist/blogger type, may not even be Somali.

 

But as you can see from his posts, the reality in Xamar(as well as other cities) is mucho differento from what the Is-Qancis Brigade would like to believe. The Somali shacab absolutely hates and loathes the TFG & Amisom. In the words of shop-keeper Mohamed Omar: "They should be slaughtered like pigs." For all of the hullabalo of fowr-bointi-fife(4.5) dimuqraasiyah, this fact alone strips it from any purported(and fake) legitimacy.

 

And the Mujahideeen, with all of their supposed harshness, enjoy massive popularity......... a bitter bone stuck in the throat of Sharif Ahmed and his downcast supporters.
