Khayr Posted May 11, 2006 The Letter is not being disclosed to most western media outlets-to my knowledge. Its a very simple and sincere letter, that makes Iran look like the 'People's Champ', the 'Real Liberators'..... Africans, Arabs,Poor, underprivileged people can relate to them now. Even Christians can relate to them now... This wasn't move that was 'rushed' but rather a well thought and strategized letter. The timing is impecable. Baashi Posted May 11, 2006 Xiinoow awoowe waa caadaa. Washington Post article reports pressure on Neocons. Republican maverick weighs in: Iraq, nuclear capabilities, terrorism, Israel and oil are all part of an Iranian puzzle game that cannot be played one piece at a time," Hagel wrote. "There will be no lasting solution to the Iranian nuclear threat until the broader interests of Iran, the U.S., the region and the world are addressed." Two points for Ahmednejad of Iran and nill for Bush.
Castro Posted May 11, 2006 ^ Unforunately, the score will change quick awoowe. There's an urgency that we can't see with American rush to war. A regime change in Iran is a must and having spent so much since 2003 in the region, they want to "finish" the job. I'd say Iran will be bombed within 6 months. It's not their nukes (they have none) that worries the Americans. Follow the money trail, as Codetalker correctly pointed out.
-Lily- Posted May 11, 2006 This might be an 'calacal' letter but it's excellent. The Iranian president is not bombing anyone, he is not burning anything down or shooting at anyone, he is writing a diplomatic leter, he is being 'civalized'. The letter was plain and simple so that every avarge person may understand it, I don't think it was written with Bush alone in mind. Now to respond to this letter with sanctions will appeare unreasonable, to respond to it with by bombs even more unreasonable. Castro, if you say that Iran will be bombed within six months there will be huge consequences for the US army in Iraq, no matter if tehy are close to 200 thousand out there. And will the US go at it alone? How will Britian feel about its 8000 British troops stationed with 10 million Shi'as? And how will the US explain that this is not a 'crusade' against Islam, however political it might be? SB, Iran is not a country that was under sanctions and weakened by them like Iraq. It wil be bloody if it goes ahead. And the State of Israel will be recognized when the state of Palastine is established. The last thing the War on Terror needs is a destabalized Iran. Oh the irony of it all, one form of terror to eradicate another!
General Duke Posted May 11, 2006 I think many here are exagerating the importance of this letter. The Americans wont give an inch to a letter from a tin can letter as they see it.
Socod_badne Posted May 11, 2006 Desperately seeking Allah (aka Alle-Ubaahne), Yeah, I'm doing fine. Dubya propaganda did the trick, I know feel safe in NY. WaterLilly, Spot on with your anaysis as usual. I'm not for war, I swear I'm not. I'm a pacifist, totally abhor violence except during Globalization demonstrations. That said, Iran is playing with fire. Engaging in Nuclear brinksmanship with sole superpower who proved willingness to use Nuclear weapons, is dicey game. Castro Posted May 11, 2006 ^ The letter didn't do a damn thing. The Americans were gonna talk anyway.
-Lily- Posted May 11, 2006 ^^It's in everybody's best interest.
xiinfaniin Posted May 11, 2006 It gives the impression that it had something to do with it though. And that's, good Castro, good enough for now.
Castro Posted May 11, 2006 ^ I was being facetious atheer. Of course the letter had everything to do with it. You're not very sharp today. Low on Xabad Sowda supply, perhaps?
xiinfaniin Posted May 11, 2006 ^^LOL@Xabad Sawda Supply. But it could be argued that America wanted to talk to Iran all along, and even without this letter they would still do it anyway, maaha?
Castro Posted May 11, 2006 ^ Sure it can. But nothing gets you off your butt faster than a major and worldwide spot light. All the signs we had between Aug. 2002 and Feb./Mar. 2003 are there for anyone who cares to look. The bombing is coming. Start buying Euros.
