Thus far, the world is seeing not the suffering of somali people, but the powerful images of burning of soldiers, mutilation of the dead corpses, dragging of their bodies on the street admits jubilant crowds that look islamic, and chanting of islamic slogans. Or is just the news um reading, mostly English outlets and SOL.... some say: massacre, mass murders, are happening likeIraq......but no one sees those images....wheres the evidence of many dead somali civilians? ie: jubba bombing we heard, see how the propaganda works no pictures of dead....only words not as effective. We must understand how the game/world works the art of propaganda can change views and polices ect. Going back to the images we have seen, of burning, desecration of soldiers. What purpose does this serve? And where is the al-shabeebs that xiin talks about, why haven’t they spoken,? For the opposition does it help their cause in the world’s image including the Muslim world by showcasing their atrocities ? You need allies, or at least sympathizers no? If other side is killing and also committing atrocities , the world is not seeing any powerful images?.....if these people who showcase the burning of the dead knew the art of propaganda why not showcase the atrocities of your enemy, doesn’t that help your cause more, in the least in opinions? Xoogsade Posted March 30, 2007 Hi Bro, I haven't watched the clip nor do I intend to, however, for every act of savagery perpetrated against these Xabashi troops, there is equal savagery meted on innocent somalis in Muqdisho uncaptured by the Camera. We may see the gruesome dead of somalis in the coming days but the Xabashis left nothing in their arsenal to inflict pain on many parts of Muqdisho according to the latest news coming from Xamar. And it is not over yet. America might join if Ethiopia suffers and soon we may end up watching Apache Helicopters participating in the ogre of Somali killing. It would have been better if there were responsible people preventing the crowd from defiling the corpses most certainly. The only person they seem to have an eye on is the President who hails from Puntland but who is in Mogdishu to governer and do his job as President of Somalia. Fabregas Posted March 30, 2007 I don't think the International community(America) cares much about who is massacred in Somalia. There interest is preventing mullahs from taking charge in Somalia. If this means Somalia plungers into anarchy, than they would take that over the return of the wadaads sequel. Thus they have sent their merecenary Meles Zenawi into Somalia to curb the supposed threat. However, my prediction is that more and more in Muqidsho will take up arms. Whether or not Zenawi can pacify( annhilate) this threat to be seen.Also i have not heard the the Odayasha saying Ethiopian can stay. They said they have beef with Ethiopia and Puntland and they should both leave. The suprising thing is that Abdullahi Yusuf is completely out of the picture. It is the Abysnians who are negotiating and fighting. With regards to the propoganda war, documenting massacres and abuses in Somalia is a useless excercise. The international community has seen plenty of "pictures" from Chechynya, Kurdistan, and many other places in the world. But they have turned a blind eye. There will always be ajustification for these actions. Remember Zenawi has a mandate to curb terrorism in Somalia. He can do virtually anything he likes. Lastly, the dragging and humilating of dead bodies is disgraceful act. I heard yesterday some of the odayal tried to stop it. I think they should try harder. But they have a hard task, seeing as half the city is on fire. All we can do is comdemn them from our pcs, it is actually making the people understand and stop, which is the hard part. You are in no position to think about 'image' or engage in a PR campaign aimed to win the hearts and minds of the world when you're actively being slaughtered. And this is the grim reality so many are tryna ignore: Ethiopians helicopters firing on civilians, Ethiopians troops now reportedly headed to Bosaaso, the fact that this occupation is decidedly long-term, Ethos won't be leaving anytime soon unless escorted out, the TFG's shedding any last vestiges of a national 'reconcilliation' government(first we bomb the shit out of you, then we envelop you with our warmth), the historical nature of this conflict which will shape Somalia's future for generations to come. Even more critical than 1955, 1969, and 1991. Why discuss the finer points of propoganda when we got all this on Somalia's plate ? For arguments sake, even if the atrocities of the TFG/Tikrey side is presented to the world, will it make a difference ? The world, the UN, the EU, and the AU, and the so-called Muslim world stood silently(and clapped) while Etho tanks rolled in Somalia, what makes you think it'll be any different now ? Gotta remember, this ain't no Darfur, which celebs have adopted as the latest 'cool' humanitarian cause. This here is called Somalia: all too Islamic for our tastes. vs Ethiopia: Our boys in Africa. No contest. As for dragging the body parts, it simply highlights the intense anger and revulsion at play in the hearts of the average Somali man/woman towards the TFG and their 'guests', the Tikreys. It shouldn't be turned into a political ploy to score points. F the world. It's wrong. Period. Keep it moving.
