Naxar Nugaaleed Posted November 11, 2007 i think you want me to be an anarchist castro. true am more of a Libertarian then most i knew but if i am libertarian supporting what you belief (key word) is a authoritarian government, what about all the fascist in your camp supporting anarchist movements? am afraid, my friend, Somali politics is not as simple as "Where do you stand on the political compass?" we must take a lot more into consideration that. If whats been keeping Somalia in the state that it has been thus far was ideology, thinks would be much easer to deal with. Also, i have hunch most people back home would be up there with the pope and Mugabe when it comes to beliefs, they wouldn't agree with me or probably you, but more importantly they would agree with each other. sadly, in Somalia, the worth of your neighbors house and how much bililiqo could done if this or that happened is far more important in the political equation of our countrymen then their ideologies. by the way: daddy, aunte and atheer yey ah? War hedhe, rerka ma ka dayset these political discussions?

Come to think of it, most Somalilanders who took this survey are in the second quadrant. Hmmm. And except for Fatboy (the statistical anomaly ), we're all in the 2nd or 3rd quadrant, the left side of center. Interesting indeed. Naxar, you are what you are atheer. This questionnaire is probably meaningless though it shouldn't be dismissed entirely.

Somalis in here are suvvy voters and helped send the first American Born Muslim Convert to the House of representatives.

YoniZ Posted November 11, 2007 There survey could be flawed by not using a fifth choice of "neutral/I dont know". Overall it is interesting idea.
Cara. Posted November 12, 2007 ^Then you could have a flip-flopper scale on the Z axis. John "Maybe" Kerry on one end, George "I talk to God every night" Bush on the other. Economic Left/Right: -3.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.56 I think my approval of spanking kids kicked me up a notch on the vertical axis

Hence, if everyone was true to himself/herself they shall fall in the red-zone or nearby. The way I look at it, the more you go down the axis the more you become "free thinker", "progressive" or "favourable to [social/religious] change", which I don't believe is the case for Somalis. NGONGE Posted November 12, 2007 Not that I was comfortable with any of those leading questions but here goes: Economic Left/Right: -1.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.05 I refuse to believe that most of you understood those questions and their implications (from an economic and political point of view at least). They were as vague as vague can be.
Paragon Posted November 12, 2007 Economic Left/Right: -6.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.85 I ended up near Nelson Mandela. I don't like him tho. Bet that makes me a self-hating, non-Libertarian (Deep Ecologist) leftist of the communist sort. Well, I never! Nah, actually I knew where I'll end up- I've been a visitor of the Libertarian bookshops (there is one in whitechapel by the way) and a member of the socialist workers (you know those who carry the red leaflets/posters in anti-war demos?).
