Likening Somalia with terrorism

There was a time during the so-called "war on terror" when Islamic government wasn't directly equated with "terrorism." Rather, the "experts" who opined on the subject wrote diplomatically about the issue. Now, anyone who wants "Islamist rule" is a terrorist. This indho-yar Ph.D-holder wants us to connect "the dots linking this 'piracy' [in Somalia] and America's 'global war on terrorism'."

 

A couple of Western ships get shot at and they cry "terrorism." But for 15+ years, the Somali people have been terrorized by warlords - are those not terrorists? Either way, this writer makes it quite clear who is a "terrorist" in his eyes...and it most certainly is not the warlords, militia chiefs or armed businessmen. Its the men with the title "Sheikh" before their name or those who openly and courgeously declare their stance for Islamic rule in Somalia and in the Muslim world. I've certainly connected that dot.

in Somalia, whose leader, Hassan Dahir Aweys, loudly proclaims that his men might earn divine pardon for their sins if they "cleanse themselves with the blood of foreigners."

The War on Terrorism's Forgotten Front

Before, they said the late Gen. Caydiid's (AUN) fight against the U.S. military in '93 was funded by al-Qaeda. Now, any bomb that goes off in East Africa is carried out by "jihadis" and "terrorists"...probably from Somalia. LOL Paranoia like whoa!

What utter garbage that man has written - and he is a professor who has supposedly done 'verfication' and 'field work'. This is appalling. What is also clear is that a number of warlords and factions are pumping this fallacy up so that they can get aid and arms to further their own interests.

I am also really FREAKED out by the idea of the U.S getting involved in Somali politics in anyway. They dont have a record of doing anything without another motive.
