Thierry. Posted December 4, 2008 Duke Saxiib lets put the cutlery aside and give credit where it is due Nur Cadde has snatched the intelligent attack dog (Ethiopians) away from Yeys hand, he has politically out manoeuvred the old man gaining the support of UN, AU, US UK, major clans in the South and bringing on board the popular opposition (ARS). The fact that Puntland would support Yey stance what ever it is was predictable and does not change much. Secondly seeking comfort the comfort of SH Aweys does not change anything either as you previously said he and the Asmara group are an isolated bunch. The only real obstacle the agreement has is the Al Shabaab and they to will have no option but to support what their power base supports. The size of the parliament yadi yada is only administrative problems it will be trimmed down and become more inclusive.
General Duke Posted December 4, 2008 Thierry saxib: Adeer I wield the sword.. Nur Cade is the PM who was appointed by the President, a huge mistake on the latter to have made. However what has he achived , he tried to destroy the very government that he was intrsuted with for making a few pennies. Somali’s thing such deceit to be political maturity. As for the Ethiopians they and the President have had a cold war ever since he got rid of their main man Geedi. Thus they wanted to prove a point and marginalize the old man. The two issues are totally independent of each other and Nur Cade incompetence and treachery is only being supported by the Ethiopians as a way to hurt the old man and not help Nur Cade or his clan. Thus your entire premise is misleading, Nur Cade is hurting his own chances by the Djibouti agreement which seems to be getting even more uglier by the day. The Ethiopians and notably Mesfin is at war with the President because Yusuf wants them to play ball and for his nationalistic interest. Nur Cade main support base is the NGO’s holed up in Nairobi they are a great danger but the old man is just confused, what happened to his cabinet, and making the Bandir Admin in his house & the Djibouti accord where his clan gets ½ the parliament ? Its all amusing saxib.
Thierry. Posted December 4, 2008 Saxiib you look at things from a clan lens were as I look the situation wearing my party and ideological glasses. Make no mistake ARS formerly ICU just like the TFG is not a clan organisation but an inclusive opposition represented by religious folk, Diaspora and former TFG politicians. These people are united on the principle of peaceful negotiation with the interference of frontline nations. Nur Cade came to the post knowing of Gheedi and Yey’s legacy and how they destroyed Xamar and its inhabitants, the chest beating was not going to be the way of Nur Cade so he pursued the peace and negotiation root. The man faced lots of opposition from pro yey Ministers who blocked his initiatives. Nevertheless the man along with ARS and UN representative to Somalia formulated an agreement between the government and main opposition something Yey and Gheedi cold only dream of and this is by far the greatest achievement of the Yusufs TFG. You say Nur Cade is hurting his own chances with the Djibouti agreement adeer the man couldn’t give a toss as he said before he is willing to let Sheikh SHarif take his post if it will bring peace. His cabinet and Benadir admin will be dealt with but I suspect you want M Dheere back which isn’t going to happen. Now my turn Why did yey squander the Khartoum agreement in 2006 only to get less this turn around? Why is he calling for Ethiopia to stop interfering now when he was all for it a couple of years ago. What has he achieved in tenure and be honest with yourself saxiib you know me I am not hear to score some political points online (just a sincere question)
General Duke Posted December 4, 2008 Theirry adeer the proof is in the pudding. You might say that the ARS and ICU is not a clan movement, but we have Shiekh Abdirahman Janagow testifying to the fact that they were. Also as for the clan lens, you don’t need to convince me the Somali clans are opposed to this deal because of the fact that the ARS group do not want a clan shared system , thus one group will dominate others and as you know today the Mogadishu clans do not hold the imagination of the nation as they did. Again what has Nur Cade achieved than to squander the opportunity given to him to lead the nation? As for the points you made, the Sudan agreement was a good deal but it was not Yey who lost adeer it was the clan clowns who have been diminished in power. Ethiopia was a military ally, they are being replaced as we speak and that’s why they are reacting negatively not to mention the differences between Mesfin and the President. I know you are not an extremist in the classical clanistic sense, but Yusuf has achieved a great deal within his tenure this is the most successful government in post war history, he has kept his base, he has overcome a great deal of opposition and fear mongering propaganda and not to mention his greatest challenge which is his health. He missed a number of opportunities naming clowns like Geedi & Nur Cade and not having a tougher unified response to the opposition and their media. General Duke Posted December 5, 2008 An update for all the political junkies, President Yusuf has had a remarkable week. This was marked by the visit to Garowe and Qardho for the coronation of the 33rd King of the nation and meeting with the Puntland admin to go over the newest development politically, financially and militarily. The President then went to Djibouti and met with his counterpart Ismael Omar Geele, the talks were productive topics ranged from familial relationship between the two nations, the Pirates and IGAD;s up and coming meeting. Today the President has returned to the Parliamentary capital of Baidoa to hold talks with MP’s and brief them what he learned from his fact finding missions to Libiya, Uganda, Sudan and Djibouti as well as the non existent cabinet and the controversial Djibouti agreement. I hope you don’t hide your little knifes, for the Minamoto blade is coming out of the holster

General Duke Posted December 5, 2008 My man DhulQarnayn: The fact that when the President meets such obsticles and overcomes them the results are always posative for the TFG's nationalistic project, this situation gives me a great deal of confidance that things are going to turn again, to the advantage of the unionists. one can not even say Yusuf Yey is back, because he never left. General Duke Posted December 9, 2008 The armed groups have shown they are confused, disorganized and only interested in short term headline grabbing action. Their recent internal fighting has dismantled more of their infrastructure and caused mayhem to their sore supporters, the poor hapless civilians who were hoodwinked into believing that the mayhem and anarchy would pay dividends. They had a great opportunity to seize on the internal squabbling and the dishonest actions of the PM and his lieutenant however their actions have strengthened their main adversary. Now they are fighting in Guriceel and Beledweyne again achieving nothing but destruction on the poor civilians who they hold as hostages.
