Ulema want Amisom out in 120 days

What a hasty and emotional decision not to mention terrible timing. Based on what guarantees the Ulema won't get slaughtered by the drug lord militia?

I hope the armed youth are not using the ulema to push a hidden agenda and take over the security situation and use it as a leverage over the newly built government. I expect the ulema to act smarter and diligent about the situation. They should not give in to the request of current and former militia gangs turned hard line islamists. The ulema must keep in mind the Mansuur gangs in Moqdisho streets are much more dangerous to the public than the AMISOM boots.

I think the president should put all emotions aside and disagree with these ulema. The foreign troops should stay put to safeguard the government's interest so long Shabaab's extreme violent exodus continues.

Good move on the part of the Scholars. Waa raggeedii. First time soomaali ay yeelatay Marjic Culumo oo midaysan.

AMISOM loogama baahna meesha, haku baxaan waqtiga loo qabtay. The reasons are following in my view:

A- With opposition minimalized and eliminated over-time by the leadership of Somali Scholars, there will be no threat to Shariif's government.

B- The money being spent on Amisom troops will be spent on building somali institutions.

C- Dacaayaadda Alshabaab lagu wado waa in la joojiyo. Ilaa iyo hadda wax qalad ah oo ay galeen ma jirto. Wixii khalad ah oo dhallinyaro iyaga ka mid ahi sameeyeen, sida Villa Somalia weerarkeedii, waa lagala hadlay, dib dambana uma dhicin. Dhallin yaradaan Waxaa loo garduubaayaa hadda waa NABADDA soo dhow iyo Sheekh SHARIIF oo oggol wixii wanaag ah in lagu dhaqo waddanka. Marka, baahi dagaal ma jirto inta wada hadal la oggol yahay qof dagaal iclaamiyayna uusan jirin, ama sheekh shariif ama Alshabaab.

PS: Yaan la illoobin iyadoo hal ASKARI AJNABI AH WADDANKA UUSAN JOOGIN IN NABAD LAGA Dhigay Muqdisho. That can happen if the same method is followed. This time it will even be better with a recognized government in place who negotiates and uses the free services of Elders and Scholars intent to avoid war at all costs. In addition to that the institutions of government wil recover quickly if there are no other investments the donors will have to consider other than the Somali government. Why do you guys think Uganda wants her troops put? Because the Ugandan officials have taken the millions of Dollars allocated for their troops and stashed it somewhere for their personal use. They want more money now. AMISOM needs to leave.

It is a fact that no country with foreign troop presence recovers quickly. The more they get involved, the more devisions deepend and conflicts continue. Soomaalida iyagaa iska adag, waa in la isu daayo. AMISOM TROOPS NEED TO LEAVE THE SOONEST.

Good news runtii, ilaaheyban mahad leh, these men have foiled the plot of the gaalada, this weak plot was to simply distract the mujahideen "diin- diin ka hor gee".

In essence the culima are reminding the gaalada they have been defeated in this land and that they should leave before they are shown the borders or rather their graves. But I don't think the US is going to give up easily.Infact if I remeber correctly it was few days ago when they were asking nigeria to send troops to soomaal, which is very unlikely to happen because of the credit crunch and all.

It looks like Sheekh Umal, ilaahey ha ilaaaliyee understands the game very well, here is his interview with somalimirror.com

@The news that came out of Xamar today is part of a national drive to give Somali scholars the role they deserve and intervene using their scholarly and religious authority

National drive by whom exactly? And where was the involvement from Somali Scholars the last 20 years of bloodshed? Forgive my ignorance on this issue.

I don't see their attitude that way saxib. Their resentment and feelings towards Sheekh Shariif is quite logical and understandable. It has little to do with them not recognizing the Scholars or understanding politics. These guys don't give a toss about politics and worldly issues. That is what makes them a bit hard to deal with, it takes some convincing and showing them how things can work in your favour without causing a lot of unwarranted damage. No one should expect them to co-sign with sheekh shariif without some convincing and negotiations, forced or otherwise. Waa dad is maan dhaafsanaa in the bad old days to begin with, they considered him AWOL when it mattered. He says he was playing the deplomatic Jihad which doesn't fly well with the Shabaab crew as you know it very well. Now we need to convince them these are the good times and better days are ahead of us. Sida hadda wax lagu wado waa hagaagsan tahay. Waa la qaddariyay, ma loola dhaqmin in Sheekh Shariif uu ka sareeyo, laakiin waxaa loola hadlay loolana hadli doonaa inay yihiin dad kaalin ku leh Mustaqbalka soomaaliya. We want them to treat Sheekh Shariif's government based on what happens next/now rather than on what is alleged and personalities including that of Sheekh Shariif. They are required and expected to change their stance sometime in the near future. Hadda in la hor boodo ma ahan oo lagu eedeeyo waxaan macno wayn ku fadhinin. Iyagaa oggolaan doona culumada warkeeda markay arkaan that their stated goals are being met as much as possible and as the conditions on the ground permitt.

I think Alshaab are reasonable, they have leaders and they will listen to them. Everyone whose word counts should focus on those leaders, the rest will fall in line.

Rash declaration. The "government" doesn't have the capability to remove them at this moment in time. They could just turn around and say that their removal would lead to a greater fitna, that is, the return of Ethiopian troops. They could also easily say that this was a compromise that they made for the greater good.

Xiin, ALshabab and the other groups position is clear on the Amnisom; it is based upon a deenayan stand. Ironically, this was the same position that the sHeikh had when he was their leader. Thus, you can't really blame for taking a black and white stand on the amnisom.

The African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia has rejected clerics' proposal for the withdrawal of foreign troops within 120 days.

Maj. Barigiye Bahoku, spokesman for the AMISOM forces in Mogadishu, said Saturday that the calls were unreasonable since the newly-formed unity government would be in need of support, a Press TV correspondent reported.

"AMISOM troops will be sent back to their countries once the country is stable. But not now," Bahoku said.

However, the spokesman urged the militants to heed Somali clerics' calls for a stop to the attack against the peacekeepers in the capital of Mogadishu.

His remarks came at the backdrop of a fresh wave of attacks targeting soldiers' bases in Mogadishu.

At least one civilian was killed and three others were wounded on Friday after AMISOM troops and insurgents exchanged heavy gunfire following an ambush on their base in the conflict-torn capital.

Separately, a roadside bomb exploded next to an AU military convoy at a check point in south Mogadishu. The army vehicle was destroyed but no casualties were reported.

The peacekeeper's mission ends this month. The African Union on Monday decided to extend the mandate for the 34,000 strong force by another two months, reports said.
