Kamaavi Posted November 30, 2010 ONLF Army @ jonathan alpeyrie Reports reaching the .S. desk confirm that the O'gaden National Liberation Army(ONLA) is in total command of the road between JigJiga and Dhagax Buur after a fierce firefight between the ONLA and the Woyane militias deployed in both Dhagax Buur and Cobole. Reports indicate that the Woyane militias waged a counter attack this morning around 8:00 AM local time. Reporters and eyewitnesses in the area confirm that most of the fighting took place in an area known as Qowdhere which is on the unpaved road between JigJiga and Dhagax Buur. The Woyane militias that were involved in the latest battle were reinforcements sent from Dhagax Buur and Qabri Bayax following the major defeat encountered by the Woyane militias that were stationed in the area yesterday. Although there are major casualties reported on both sides but more so on the Woyane militia side, however given the expansive nature of the area where the battles took place, it is still not possible to get a reliable casualty count. The ONLA commanders in area claimed that they have either killed or injured many of the 600 plus members of the Woyane force that was involved in this fierce battle One of our senior reporters who was in the area both yesterday and today did indicate that the strategy of the ONLA appears to be two fold. First, it is to put military pressure on the Woyane militias deployed in the area as to minimize, or eliminate altogether, the extra judicial killings, rape, and the looting that they were lately engaged against the civilians in the area. The reporter also added that the second objective appears to be to create a very unsettling feeling for the Woyane militias deployed in and around the city of Dhagax Buur. The reporter indicated that this militia has been very active lately in forcefully displacing many civilians from their homes in the name of the creation of what was unofficially billed as a more secure military barracks inside the areas inhabited by civilians.
