Muruqmaal Posted May 6, 2007 No more war in Mogadishu, says Somali president Somali troops have taken over the control of the capital Mogadishu and the displaced can return to their homes, said Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf on Saturday. "There will be no more fighting in Somalia as the extremists were defeated by the Somali armed forces," Yusuf said in a press conference held in the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu. "Let the people return to their homes." The president asked the international community to extend assistance to Somalia, saying that Somalia urgently needs humanitarian aid. His statement comes as the Somali government troops and allied Ethiopian soldiers tighten security and patrol the streets of Mogadishu, searching vehicles for weapons and suspected Islamist fighters. The transitional government announced the end of major fighting in the capital on Thursday after it launched a major offensive, backed by Ethiopian troops, crushing the defense of the insurgents and capturing their strongholds in the north and south of the city. Next will be Hargaysa..... Riyaale be a man

Xoogsade Posted May 6, 2007 ^ Will the blood A/Y shed be accounted for? Will he pay money to the victims who lost loved ones? if Not, Will the criminal be brought to justice for the crimes he committed? Will he be hanged? What is the use of a dialogue for the many who lost their parents, wives, kids and husbands while the murderer lives? He may be a winner to some, but A/Y and other criminals are nothing but men with bloody hands who need to account for their criminality.
Som@li Posted May 6, 2007 There is no need to continue endless war, 17 years is enough, and nobody is a winner. Somalia is occupied, and the sooner Somalis work together, and end the cycle of voilence, the better. And this world is not a fair place, dont expect any justice. General Duke Posted May 6, 2007 The Somali people are the winners. They have their governemnt in place now after a long 16 years. Mogadishu can become beautiful again, and no need for the cries lads. You supported wars, warlords and fake clan courts against the TFG. The TFG under Yusuf have outplayed everyone. As for Somaliland, there needs to be no war, they are not aggressive nor do their admins harm the locals. It will be dialogue and dialogue and it will be a long while beofre we have any agreement. This is the time for the south+ Puntland to start a long process of healing and economic foundation building. Somaliland will be left for future adminstartions.
