unknown1 Posted September 13, 2008 UIC vows to prevent abduction of Somalis Al Shabaab vow to fight the extraordinary rendition of innocent people through Aden Adde Airport in Somalia to secret foreign jails. Press TV correspondent in Mogadishu reports that the Union of the Islamic Court's military arm, Al Shabaab are prepared to attack any plane landing at the international airport in response to Uganda and the US' illegal use of the airport to kidnap people from the country. The final destination of the abductees is unknown but Al Shabaab claims that the US has clandestine prison facilities in Africa. Warning notes, including the promise of retaliation against any further use of the airport for these covert missions by international agencies has surfaced in Mogadishu, our correspondent reports. The UIC has been trying to reestablish order in the country after it was ousted by the current Transitional Federal Government backed by Ethiopia and the US in 2007. Fighting in the Horn of Africa nation has claimed the lives of thousands of civilians and displaced nearly a million in a humanitarian crisis which already has to contend with drought, spiraling food prices and an uncontrollable inflation. unknown1 Posted September 14, 2008 no, i mean al shabaab knows which airport r used to send others to ethiopia. read this. The Somali Islamist group, Al-Shabaab, launched Saturday what it describes as a "final warning" before the closure of the Aden Adde airport in Mogadishu Somali Capital, threatening to retaliate against anyone violating their ultimatum. "Since the airport is regularly used by U.S. and Israeli intelligence agencies and also serves as a military base for the Ugandan and Burundian occupation troops, we, the Mujahideen of Al-Shabaab, have taken the decision to close to the airport," said a press release published Saturday on the website of the resistance organization. "The airport is a major source of the income for the Ethiopian forces who manage it," said the document, adding that Al-Shabaab will begin to implement their decision to close Aden Adde airport Tuesday (16/Ramadaan/1429H or September 16th, 2008). According to the Al-Shabaab fighters, if their orders are ignored, they will then begin to stage attacks on the airport. "We know that in the near future foreign soldiers are scheduled to arrive at Aden Adde airport, therefore, it must be closed," the communiqué continued. Al-Shabaab has delivered what it calls the utmost declaration, instructing all commercial airlines to refrain from landing their aircraft at Aden Adde airport in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. The Ethiopian army, Somalia's Transitional Federal Government (TFG) leadership, and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) representatives, have yet to comment on Al-Shabaab's plans.
