Year after American-Sponsored Ethiopian invasion of Somalia

December 30th, 2007 On the eve of December 25, 2006, Ethiopia with the help of America’s financial help and its military machine, invaded Somalia and causing a humanitarian disaster in epic proportions for the Somali civilian population who has been suffering for the last 16 years of their own internal civil strives. It is time the so called civilized world both (Muslims and Non_Muslims) to stand up say enough is enough for the poor people of Somalia and stop the genocide perpetrated by the Tigrinyan army against defenseless civilian people of Mogadishu? Or will they turn a blind eye and pretend nothing is happening while millions of civilian are being slaughtered and driven out of their houses in Mogadishu?

 

Ethiopian/American invasion of Somalia not only violated the sovereignty of the Somali country, but also mocked at the foundation of the so called charter of the United Nation. Chapter 1 article 4 of the united nation which calls out “All members shall refrain in their international relation from a threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state or in any other manner inconsistence with the purpose of the United Nation”. Even though UN resolution 1725 sponsored by the same Americans who are involved the Somali invasion, called neighboring countries to stay out of the Somali conflict, the world has yet to see/hear any condemnation by the so called UN security council or the head of the UN Ban Ki- moon against Ethiopia’s involvement of Somalia or violation of above mentioned resolution. What is happening is Mogadishu is worst than that of Darfour.

 

The Somali conflict will not be solved by proxy wars, outsourcing torture of civilians running from the conflict to third country or sponsoring invasion, but through genuine political dialog among Somalis themselves. Somalis have shown last year that they are capable of restoring the Somali state back together without outside help. Somalis were better off year ago. Peace was restored to the restless capital of Mogadishu for the first time in 17 years until it was disrupted by the Ethiopian/ American invasion of Somalia and their hypocrisy, brought back the same warlords of who terrorized Somalis and dragged dead American solders through the streets of Mogadishu to their respective territory. The warlords who were chased out a year from Mogadishu are brought back to lead Somalis. What a nightmare! Solutions to Somali conflict are as follows:

 

1- Respect the will of the Somali people, because history has shown that Somalis have an iron will and no nation no matter how strong they think they are can break the will of the Somali People. Somalis both inside and outside the country have shown, time and time again that they will never allow this illegitimate government to run the Somali affairs. The sooner the world forgets of this Zenawi/American sponsored government, the faster the world will find a solution to this prolonged Somali conflict.

 

 

3- The world needs to condemn Ethiopia’s involvement of Somalia and call withdrawal of the Tigrayan troops from all the Somali territory and condemn Tigrinya killing of Somali civilians.

 

4- The world needs also to condemn America’s proxy war in Somalia.

 

5- Let the Somalis make caretaker government made in Somalia and made by Somalis.

 

6 – Stop the deployment of the African troops. There is no point to of sending troops to Somalia when we all know there is no peace to keep there, unless the intention of their deployment is to subjugate the Somali people to accept this illegitimate - warlord dominated government.

 

It is morally wrong for the rest of the world to sit on the sideline and say or do nothing while defenseless civilians are being slaughtered in Somalia. It is time to stand up for justice and stop this senseless genocide taking place in Mogadihu. It is time to break the silence and stop Zenawi and his cohorts in Washington for their involvement in Somalia.
