NASSIR Posted February 13, 2009 Sana,a, Feb. 09 Yemen and Puntland State of Somalia discussed here on Monday cooperation on fishery aspects and possible procedures to reduce hazards of piracy against fishermen's boats. Minister of Wealth Fisheries Mohammed Shamlan held talks with Puntland State Security Minister Abdullahi Said Samatar and Interior Minister Abdullahi Ahmed on activating the understanding memorandum between Yemen and the state in fishery field signed in 2007. During the meeting, two technical committees were formed from the two sides to draft a cooperation protocol to contribute in protecting fishermen's boats in the Yemeni and Somali territorial waters from piracy acts. Shamlan assured the depth of bilateral ties between Yemen and Somalia, confirming the significance of activating the fishery cooperation areas between the two countries.
