Do we need an other capital city?

 

Capital city is the symbol of any country, it is chosen because of its economic or strategic center, and many prefer to have several capital cities with their own reasons like South Africa, Malaysia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Swaziland and etc.

 

Our country has been in civil war for the last twenty years and by accepting this reality is all about our life and future, people try to ignore the truth unless they touch the wall, get stress or accept the reality itself, anyway, there always comes at a time that we accept reality.

 

We learn from the history to have moral and practical lessons on how to behave, having a different capital city may change on how our country looks today, whenever Somalia is talked about the image you get is Mogadishu; daily civilian deaths with no reason and the destruction of Mogadishu.

 

Imagine having ‘Dar Salam’ or ‘Peace Village’ capital city coming from the peaceful part of our country to the south end regardless of how long it takes. By having another capital city (if our MPs compromise) is having our leaders more easier lives in their lives and duties.. it means by minimizing the risk associated our leader’s own lives and civilians, it means we have peaceful country with some provincial in question to be solved, it is like Somali Diaspora coming back to Somalia and Investing our new capital city.

 

In other words, it is like economic opportunity for the country, it is like UN head quarters based inKenya to be moved to our peaceful capital city, it is like about having more investment opportunities locally and internationally.

 

Let us learn from these countries, how they have acted to their demands of their time and how they have solved their own problems, some of these following countries have changed their capital cities or got more than one capital city for their own reasons or chosen their capital cities on their 2nd , 3rd, 4thor 5th largest cities.

 

Rio which is the second largest city of Brazil, this city was the capital of Brazil for nearly two centuries and the capital of Brazil (Brasilia) was inaugurated in 1960,

 

Kazakhstan was also moved the country’s capital city from Almaty to Akmola and Akmola was also renamed to Astanta.

 

Philadelphia and New York city also once served as the capital cities of United States

 

Bolivia is one of the few countries that has two capital cities Sucre which is the constitutional capital and La Paz which is the administrative capital.

 

South Africa has three capital cities: Cape Town, the largest of the three and it is the legislative capital,Pretoria is the administrative capital and also Bloemfontein is the Judicial Capital.

 

Abdu Dhubai (UAE), Ankara of Turkey, Astana of Kazakhstan, Yaundo of Cameroon are located in their 2nd largest cities.

 

Capital cities located in their third largest cities are Wellington of New Zealand and Porto Novo of Benin.

 

Capital cities located their 4th largest cities are Berne of Switzerland, Ottawa of Canada, and capitals located in their 5th largest are Dodoma of Tanzania and Pretoria of South Africa.
