rudy-Diiriye Posted August 17, 2007 Fri. August 17, 2007 09:40 pm.- (SomaliNet) Amid rising insurgency attacks targeted on the government positions in the Somalia capital Mogadishu, the Islamist militants fired rocket-propelled grenades into the police station of Wadajir district, southwest of the city on Friday night, local official said. There is no immediate casualty on the soldiers at the police station. Ahmed Daci, the Wadajir district commissioner, told tonight the local media that insurgent group had attacked the police station. He said the police repelled the attackers by responding with the automatic machine-guns. The sound of the exchanged gunfire could be heard throughout the district casting fear to the residents. Among the attacked police posts within this week are Wadajir, Hodan, Howlwadag and Huriwa. The latest incident was part of series attacks on the government positions for the past few weeks. The Ethiopian backed interim government forces drove the Islamic Courts out of Somalia late last year in a bloody war which claimed the lives of thousands people.
